Chris Brown was released from jail just a few weeks ago and now could possibly be locked up behind bars once again after rejecting a plea deal in Washington, D.C., assault case.

Under the proposed deal terms, Brown would have pleaded guilty in exchange for his time served with no additional jail time and no probation. However, the negotiations fell apart just before the court hearing on Wednesday, June 25. The "Loyal" hitmaker reportedly turned down the deal when the attorneys could not agree on what he would acknowledge that happened during the infamous confrontation outside the W Hotel in D.C. last October that ultimately led to his arrest.

Acording to The Associated Press, the R&B singer's defense lawyer Mark Geragos briefly addressed the ongoing legal issue outside the courtroom. "They wanted him to read from a script that wasn't true," he said. "If they want a trial, that's what they'll get."

As a result of yesterday's hearing, Chris Brown now will have to head to a trial to defend himself against the assault allegation that could send him back to jail. A judge set Sept. 8 as the trial date, and the case is expected to take a day and a half.

Brown's bodyguard Christopher Hollosy, who was convicted of misdemeanor assault in April but has not yet been sentenced, was present at the courtroom on Wednesday as well. Geragos also said that he wants Hollosy to testify at the upcoming trial as a witness for the defense and say that only he, not the "X" singer, attacked Parker Adams, a fan who claimed he was hit when he tried to take a photo with the singer along with two women.

Meanwhile, prosecutors still maintain Brown, who was already on probation in California for a 2009 attack on his then-girlfriend Rihanna at the moment of the scuffle, and Hollosy both punched Adams. Hollosy's attorney Bernard Grimm was granted more time to ask for a new trial after he said there was potential new evidence in the case.
