iOS 8 is almost here, but what if you want the new functionality today? Jailbreaking your device is the solution to this software conundrum.

A new jailbreaking tweak gives your iOS 7 notifications center an update akin to what the iOS 8 is offering up. The tweak is called Notific8 and features a "new header style" and provides "easy access to Notification Center Settings." It's also harder to miss notifications with the jailbreak tweak.

iDownloadBlog notes that, while Notific8 looks different, it functions largely the same, and that is a little disappointing. For example, when compared with the traditional iOS 7 notifications center, Notific8 made some subtle, but nice, changes to the color scheme. The missed notifications tab was also axed.

Please note that this isn't a graphically perfect either. Text and graphics are misaligned, resulting in a jarring, sloppy contrast when compared with the picture-perfect design implementations Apple is known for.

If you're interested in Notific8 despite its faults, you can download it for free today. According to Cult of Mac, Notific8 can be found on "Cydia's BigBoss repo." Cydia, as you may or may not know, is an alternative App Store specifically for jailbroken iOS devices.

In other iOS 7 jailbreak news, iOS 7.1.1 has now been jailbroken. The latest jailbreak is officially called Pangu iOS 7.1.1. That being said, jailbreaking is obviously not sanctioned or supported by Apple Inc. so anything you download and install onto your iOS device is done at your own peril. The jailbreaking process, isn't that bad though. 9to5 Mac provides instructions on how to do so here.

Despite the extra functionality garnered by the iOS jailbreak, iPads and iPhones still lag far behind Android 4.4 KitKat. And with the announcement of Android 5 Lollipop at Google's I/O conference in San Francisco this week, will Apple fall even further behind?

Have you ever jailbroken your iOS device? If so, what functionality did you gain or lose by doing so? Let us know in the comments section below.
