A former MMA fighter on Wednesday confessed to shooting his wife and dumping her body in a small river in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Luis Lima, 44, was arrested for the murder of his teacher wife, Ellida Ferreira, 26.

Ferreira is mom to Lima's six-month-old son. According to The Mirror, Ferreira left their home to visit her mother in Campinas city in the state's northwestern part. However, she never showed up.

Body of Ex-MMDA Fighter's Wife Found in Brazil's Stream

Family members said Ellida Ferreira went missing Friday night. The search for Ferreira ended Monday after her body was found in a stream in Parque do Cormo. According to reports, Ferreira's body was found wrapped in a sheet and tied with rope at her feet and hands.

Daily Mail reported that Ferreira was last seen inside a building elevator at around 9:30 p.m. Friday on her way back to their apartment. At 9:43 p.m., the security camera showed Luis Lima in the lobby with an empty laundry cart.

Four minutes later, the ex-MMDA fighter was seen pushing the cart with his wife's body wrapped in sheets before placing her in his vehicle.

Lima drove off at around 4:40 a.m. Sunday and dumped Ferreira's body at a stream on the east side of Sao Paulo. The former MMA fighter returned to the apartment with his son nearly four hours later.

While police were investigating the case, neighbors told investigators they heard four gunshots in the building. However, none of the tenants reported it.

Former MMA Fighter Tried to Cover Up His Wife's Murder

Luis Lima reportedly tried to cover up the murder of his wife by reporting her missing to the police. He reportedly told authorities on Friday that he did not hear anything from her after she left home to visit her family in Campinas.

The former MMA fighter also told police that he last sent her a message at 7:51 pm and told her that he only had about 5 percent battery left. Lima said he sent another message to his wife at 10:39 p.m. but it was not seen.

He noted that his calls were also forwarded directly to voicemail. The ex-MMA fighter also told police that he searched for his wife in bus stations, hospitals, and police stations.

"In contact with my sister-in-law and the mother of the disappeared reported that she did not arrive at their homes in Campinas," Lima noted.

However, these statements became lies as Lima confessed to killing his wife after getting arrested. There was still no motive for why he killed her, but authorities believed that Luis Lima may have killed Ellida Ferreira out of jealousy.
