Roger Sexton, a Tambaqui Tribe member in the iconic reality competition series, quickly rose as a team leader. Sexton was a former U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served during the Vietnam War. However, after 21 days of surviving in the Amazon, he was eliminated after the other team persuaded members of his own squad to turn on him.
"Survivor: The Amazon" premiered in 2003, and the show is still going strong after nearly 20 years. The series was at its peak of popularity from 2000 through 2006, ranking among the top 10 most-watched programs in the U.S.
Despite not being as well-liked as it once was, the show is currently in its 43rd season and continues to draw a substantial audience. The Survivor used to change locations usually on a season-to-season basis, with a few repeats. However, it has remained filming in the Mamanuca Islands of Fiji since Season 33 in 2016.
The show has filmed in many countries across North America, Asia, Oceania, South America, and Africa before relocating to Fiji. According to Giant Freakin Robot, there have now been 12 Survivor contestants who have died following Roger Sexton's passing.
