Joe Biden, Jill Biden, Hunter Biden, and Baby Beau Arrive in Nantucket for Thanksgiving; President Says Family to Discuss 2nd White House Bid
President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden arrived in Nantucket Tuesday night, together with daughter Ashley Biden, son Hunter Biden, and grandson baby Beau, for their traditional Thanksgiving family holiday.
Hunter, accompanied by his wife Melissa Cohen, was seen carrying their son Beau as the family disembarked Air Force One upon arrival at Nantucket Memorial Airport in Massachusetts at around 8:05 p.m. It was reportedly an hour-long flight from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
According to Nantucket Current, members of the Biden family were whisked away in a motorcade down Old South Road and out to the luxurious 13-acre estate owned by billionaire businessman David Rubenstein on Nantucket Harbor.
This is the same location, where they stayed during Thanksgiving last year. Daily Mail reported that the Biden family will spend the week eating turkey and discussed Joe Biden's 2024 presidential race.
Biden Family to Talk About Joe Biden's Second White House Bid on Thanksgiving Holiday
Joe Biden earlier said that the holidays - a time when the whole family is together - is when their family will have serious talks about another White House bid.
In a press conference earlier this year, the president noted that he hoped he and his wife, Jill Biden, "get a little time to actually sneak away for a week" to discuss reelection bid.
The Biden family's arrival has been anticipated for days now. The equipment necessary to secure the president and his family for their stay was delivered by a large military cargo plane on Sunday.
In preparation for Biden's visit, a fleet of motorcycles and SUVs from the Massachusetts state police drove off the ferry and onto the town's main street on Monday.
Authorities will reportedly lock down the area around Rubenstein's home while the Biden family is in the property. Police vehicles were stationed along a winding gravel road leading to the estate.
Wherever the president goes, hundreds of people, including Secret Service agents, staff workers, and military personnel, will also follow him.
Daily Mail reported that the Biden family is set to attend the town's Christmas tree lighting on Friday night. On Thanksgiving Day, Biden will call American troops stationed overseas.
The Biden clan has reportedly been going to the island for 46 years since Joe Biden was elected a senator. However, this was the second Thanksgiving in a row that the family has spent on Nantucket since Biden became the nation's 46th president.
The first couple are set to return to the White House on Sunday.
How Former Presidents Spend Their Thanksgiving?
Outings on major holidays and in the late summer are common for presidents of the United States. Fox News reported that presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump took similar vacations during their time in office.
Bush often spent time at his ranch in Texas, while Obama and Trump went for golf resorts in New England.
