Donald Trump Denies Knowing Infamous White Nationalist Nick Fuentes Who Dines With Him and Kanye West at Mar-a-Lago
Former President Donald Trump claimed he did not know the identity of infamous white nationalist Nick Fuentes, who came with Kanye West during a pre-Thanksgiving dinner at the Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.
In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform on Friday, Trump said Kanye called him to have dinner at his Mar-a-Lago estate "this past week." He noted that "shortly thereafter," the rapper unexpectedly showed up with "three of his friends, whom I knew nothing about."
"We had dinner on Tuesday evening with many members present on the back patio. The dinner was quick and uneventful... They then left for the airport," the former president said.
NBC News reported that one person familiar with the dinner conversation corroborated Trump's claim that the former president did not know Fuentes' identity when they dined together.
It was also corroborated by two Trump advisers briefed on the dinner. The three sources spoke to NBC News on condition of anonymity due to the controversy surrounding the matter.
One longtime Trump adviser, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said it was a "f---ing nightmare." The same person added that if people are looking at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis "to run against Trump, here's another reason why."
Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Dinner With Kanye West
In a statement to Axios, Donald Trump said that Kanye West "very much wanted" to visit Mar-a-Lago. The former president noted that the Mar-a-Lago dinner meeting was intended to be between him and the rapper.
"But he arrived with a guest whom I had never met and knew nothing about," Trump added.
Other attendees of the said dinner at Mar-a-Lago were Karen Giorno, who was Trump's Florida state director in 2015. The New York Times reported that Giorno also confirmed Nick Fuentes' attendance.
An unnamed source told Axios that Trump appeared impressed by Fuentes, with the former president telling Kanye at one point, "I really like this guy" because Fuentes gets him, Business Insider reported.
Fuentes has yet to address the visit to Mar-a-Lago on any social media platforms that continue to host him.
Kanye was blocked from using Twitter after he made multiple anti-Semitic remarks, which included saying he was going "death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE."
The rapper also lost many of his business partnerships, including Adidas, which is now investigating allegations that he behaved inappropriately with employees during their Yeezy partnership. After Elon Musk's Twitter purchase went through, Kanye's account was reinstated earlier this month.
On Thursday night, the rapper revealed in a new campaign video he shared on his Twitter that he asked Trump to be his running mate for his 2024 presidential bid during his visit to Trump's Mar-a-Lago home.
The rapper noted that Trump was "perturbed" and "caught off guard" when he suggested that the former president sign on as his running mate. Kanye added that Trump yelled at him when he asked him to be his running mate, telling him that his 2024 presidential run was a mistake.
Donald Trump Says Kanye West Asked Him for 'Advice'
A week ago, Donald Trump said he would try to reclaim the White House again two years after voters ousted him and rejected his hand-picked candidates during the midterm elections.
Trump vowed that the future would resemble the past if he is elected and promised to repeal President Joe Biden's response to immigration and climate change. Trump filed his paperwork to run again in 2024 before the Federal Election Commission on November 15.
On the other hand, Kanye West has yet to file the basic paperwork to become a presidential candidate in 2024. In the video he posted on Thursday, Kanye also said he "loves Trump." However, the rapper said he told Trump he needed to bring back some of his loyalists who the media "tried to cancel."
In his post on Truth Social on Friday, Donald Trump noted that Kanye West asked him "for advice concerning some of his difficulties," particularly "having to do with his business" during their meeting at Mar-a-Lago club, CBS reported.
He said they "also discussed, to a lesser extent, politics, where I told him he should definitely not run for President, 'any voters you may have should vote for TRUMP'."
He added: "Anyway, we got along great, he expressed no anti-Semitism, & I appreciated all of the nice things he said about me on 'Tucker Carlson.' Why wouldn't I agree to meet? Also, I didn't know Nick Fuentes."
