An 85-year-old Florida grandpa was beaten to death by his teen grandson, who also raped him as he was dying. According to CrimeOnline, Darwin Ingram was beaten to death by his 19-year-old grandson, Luke Ingram, at Darwin's home in Palm Coast on November 9.

The arrest report said Luke was only visiting his grandpa and dad at his grandpa's home, where Darwin had lived for decades after retiring from a career in the federal government. 

The teen arrived at the Palm Coast home on the evening of November 8 after his father allegedly convinced him to leave college in Georgia earlier that day and come to Palm Coast due to his strange behavior.

On the day the Florida grandpa was murdered, Luke reportedly ate dinner with Darwin and his dad, who said the teen stared at them most of the time. After dinner, his dad noted that he went to bed and "locked his door" because of his son's peculiar behavior.

Before he fell asleep, he said he could hear Luke talking with Darwin about a dog and a watch. FlaglerLive reported that Luke's dad was then awakened by the growling sound and "screaming" before finding Darwin bloody and lifeless in the living room and Luke in Darwin's room.

Florida Grandpa Raped by Teen Grandson Before He Killed Him

Luke Ingram's father said he told his son that his grandpa needed medical attention, but Luke replied, "no." While attempting to call 911, the arrest affidavit said Luke rushed to his father and continued to yell "no." The report noted that Luke even placed his father in a chokehold twice.

WFLA News reported that Luke's father said he escaped by biting his son's arm and fleeing the house. The report noted that Luke's dad then went to a neighbor's house and told them that his son had attacked him and he needed help. He asked them to call an ambulance as his "dad is on the floor."

When police officers arrived at the home, they said they found Luke standing next to a severely injured or deceased man and a "blunt object which appeared to have been used in the attack."

Investigators said Luke beat his grandpa and strangled him with his bare hands. They also believe the teen sexually assaulted his grandfather with an object as he was dying.

Paramedics said Darwin Ingram was pronounced dead at 3:24 a.m. from significant blunt-force trauma. Flagler County medical examiners confirmed that the Florida grandpa died from blunt-force trauma and manual strangulation. 

Florida Teen Resisted Arrest

When police found Luke Ingram at the house, they asked him to leave the residence, which he did, but he refused to comply further. According to the sheriff's office, Luke resisted arrest, was tased by the officers, and was eventually detained before he was taken to the Flagler County Courthouse.

Police said Luke even tried to escape custody by pulling his handcuffed arms through his legs. They also said the Florida teen attempted to bite deputies and said, "I will kill you" multiple times.

The sheriff's office noted that one investigator was treated at the hospital but is expected to recover fully. Police said Luke was eventually subdued and taken to a hospital before he was brought to a detention facility.

Luke now faces charges of first-degree murder, domestic battery by strangulation, sexual battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting an officer without violence. The teen is being held at the Flagler County jail on no bond. According to his father, Luke has schizophrenia.
