It is no secret that Argentina is a soccer-crazy nation, and their obsession with the sport rivals that of even Brazil, regarded as the most soccer-obsessed country in the world.

When their La Albiceleste, led by Lionel Messi, dominated Croatia and punched a ticket to the World Cup final, the entire country erupted in celebrations.

While the match was ongoing, the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, was at a complete standstill. Even in the scorching summer heat, fans still packed cafes, restaurants, and public plazas to watch their team. Nobody went out, as they were all watching.

As soon as the final whistle was made, the streets of Buenos Aires erupted in celebration. Fans poured into the streets, waving Argentina's flag and wearing the country's colors. It was safe to say that the capital was drowned in sky blue and white, all because Argentina was back in the World Cup final.

One fan, Emiliano Adam, told the Associated Press that he is in "complete ecstasy," all while draped on the Argentinian flag, which he has been using as a cape.

"This is the first match that didn't make me suffer, the first time I could enjoy a match from beginning to end," he told the news outlet.

Argentinian actress Laila Desmery also reacted, saying that they are all super excited, admitting that she and many Argentinians are experiencing unexplainable joy.

World Media Sing Praises For Lionel Messi

UK publication The Telegraph noted how media around the world reacted to the Argentinian victory. This includes the reaction from Argentina's largest newspaper, Clarin, which said that Lionel Scaloni's side "knew how to be patient" and "endured" Croatia's pressure. It then praised the Messi Magic and stated that "whatever happens in the final, it is already Messi's World Cup".

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo meanwhile, asked what everyone was asking when Argentina scored that third goal, "How did [Messi] do that?"

Meanwhile, La Vanguardia noted that this will be a new opportunity for Messi to "embroider his long-awaited star, to finish his crusade. To levitate and sit with Diego (Maradona)."

Argentina Victory led to Interesting Social Media Reactions and Memes

The Argentina win dominated much of social media, with celebrities and influencers all reacting to Messi possibly winning his first World Cup.

Meanwhile, Fox Sports noted how Julian Alvarez went from a kid asking Messi for a photograph to scoring the two goals that led to Argentina going to the World Cup final.

Finally, there are plenty of memes to go around, including one regarding Messi's long-time rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, who was benched as Portugal lost to Morocco in the quarterfinal.
