A Florida man shot his ex-girlfriend 15 times because she refused to answer his calls and texts after they broke up.

According to Law & Crime, Carlos Lemont Jones allegedly told police he would do it again if given a chance. The 23-year-old Florida man said he would kill Sha'Dayla A. Johnson, and his ex-girlfriend's father, too, if he had to do it again.

Melbourne cops said they were dispatched to the 2800 block of Colbert Circle on Tuesday at 7:48 a.m. and found Johnson lying face down at a carport.

Police noted that Johnson appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds on the back of her body, which suggested that she was shot while walking or running away from the suspect. Johnson was taken to a hospital but died.

Witnesses noted that a black Nissan sedan with black wheels was seen fleeing the scene after the shooting. Surveillance cameras also recorded the vehicle, similar to Jones' car. Johnson's father, who lived with his daughter, said Jones last contacted his daughter on the afternoon of December 19.

The father said the two broke up two weeks before the shooting occurred. He noted that the suspect then kept calling and harassing Johnson to get back with him, but she refused.

Carlos Lemont Jones told detectives that he confronted his ex-girlfriend as she was walking out the front door. He talked to her before she turned away and started walking back toward the house.

The police department noted that it was at that moment that the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot her in the back 15 times. The affidavit noted that Melbourne Police Department officers arrived at the house and found Sha'Dayla A. Johnson "lying face down on the carport floor."

After the shooting, Jones told cops that he changed his clothes at his apartment and threw them in a dumpster, together with a box of 9mm ammunition. Then he allegedly drove off toward Interstate 95.

While driving at Interstate 95's northbound on-ramp, he threw a pistol magazine out of his car and discarded a semi-automatic pistol in a storm drain in an area in Nagle Drive of Rockledge.

After a few hours, Jones said he decided to turn himself in to the police after he received a phone call from his mother pleading with him to surrender.

The Florida man reportedly bought the gun a week before the shooting. Jones is currently facing first-degree premeditated murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Florida Man Carlos Lemont Jones' Confession

Police officers said Carlos Lemont Jones told them he woke up angry the morning of the shooting as Sha'Dayla A. Johnson was not answering his calls and texts. Officers noted that Jones decided that he would shoot and kill Johnson at that very moment.

Jones knew Johnson had to work at 8 a.m. and drove to her home just after 7:30 a.m. to kill her. Officers noted that Jones admitted that he arrived at Johnson's home with a pistol and fully loaded magazine with 18 rounds.

Johnson's father was resting in the living room on his reclining when he heard gunshots. He then checked the living room window and saw Jones standing behind Johnson's vehicle and staring in the direction of their house.

Johnson's father stepped out after noticing that Jones and his vehicle were gone and saw his daughter lying in a pool of her own blood.

Jones, who had dated Johnson for five months, is currently held at the Brevard County Jail. He is scheduled for an arraignment on January 19.
