The actor, whose birth name is Jaime Federico Said Camil Saldana da Gama, was born in Mexico City in 1973. His father, Jaime Camil Garza, is a prominent businessman and renowned vocalist.

Camil attended Universidad Anahuac before training in opera and acting in the United States and Italy, respectively.
