Former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that he urged daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, not to join his 2024 presidential campaign.

Trump said that he made the advice to save Ivanka and her husband from the "horrendous sleazebags" in Washington, D.C.

Recently, he posted on his social media network Truth Social on Christmas Day, saying that the United States "is dying from within." He also slammed his political foes and the Jan. 6 panel probing into his alleged criminal wrongdoing.

Trump also attacked Sen. Mitch McConnell and his wife, Elaine Chao. McConnell recently supported the $1.7 trillion spending omnibus bill.

Trump also wrote on his Truth Social account that he has never asked Ivanka or Jared to be part of his 2024 presidential campaign, adding that he "specifically" asked them not to join.

The former president added that "there has never been anything like this ride before" and that the two should not be "further subjected to it."

In November, Trump announced his White House bid in 2024 amid the lukewarm performance of the Republican candidates he endorsed.

Donald Trump 2024 Presidential Campaign

Trump announced his candidacy for presidency in November at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida a week after the 2022 midterm elections.

In his announcement, the former president said that the United States's "comeback starts right now," and that the country is being "destroyed" before the voters' eyes.

Meanwhile, Trump commented on Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who won a reelection bid in Florida, calling the governor "DeSanticmonious."

One GOP donor, Dan Eberhart, noted that DeSantis is rising, and the former president is "increasingly scared of being left for dead by the Republican Party."

Eberhart added that Trump will not go without a fight, even claiming that the Republican Party is looming closer to a "civil war" in the group.

So far, Trump is the only Republican candidate to have announced his presidential bid.

Meanwhile, DeSantis has yet to confirm if he will run for the presidency, but it is widely believed that he will issue his decision after the state's legislative session in the first half of the year.

Ivanka Trump on Father's 2024 Presidential Campaign

Ivanka said that she will not be joining her father's 2024 presidential campaign amid his candidacy announcement.

Ivanka said at the time that she wants to prioritize her young children and the private life they are creating as a family.

Ivanka stated that she does not plan to be "involved in politics," but loves her father very much.

She added that she will always love and support the former president outside the "political arena."

The former president's daughter also testified before the Jan. 6 panel probing the Capitol riot in 2021, wherein extremist supporters of Trump tried to overturn election results after his defeat.

Ivanka is one of more than 800 witnesses who testified in front of the committee.
