Andrew Tate, Brother Allegedly Involved in Organized Crime Exploiting Women
After raids on his mansion and other properties near Bucharest, Romanian prosecutors announced that the social media celebrity was held for 24 hours with his brother as part of the criminal case.
According to the prosecution, the brothers are accused in an alleged organized crime ring responsible for the sexual exploitation of at least six women.
According to Daily Mail, these women were allegedly recruited, housed, and forced to perform in pornographic videos for sale on the internet.
As part of the investigation into the allegations of sex crimes and human trafficking, the country's organized crime and terrorism unit will be questioning Andrew Tate and his brother.
Authorities suspect that his online feud with climate activist Greta Thunberg played a role in the timing of the raids, which occurred a day after he taunted Thunberg while posing with a Romanian pizza box, which could have revealed his location.
On Thursday night, the U.S. Department of State and the FBI did not immediately respond to demands for comment.
Andrew Tate, whose full name is Emory Andrew Tate III, born in Chicago, has garnered recognition and millions of followers, thanks to his internet rants against women.
On April 11, Tate's house in an Eastern European country was searched as part of a human sex trafficking probe.
A U.S. citizen's complaint to the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest is said to have spurred the April raid that led to the detention and questioning of the Tate brothers for several hours before they were eventually freed while the investigation continued.
Andrew Tate has told his fans that he moved to Romania so that he would not have to worry about the authorities investigating any sexual assault charges made against him.
