Jenna Ortega Dance: The True Story Behind Viral Dance From Netflix Hit Series 'Wednesday'
Jenna Ortega's iconic dance scene in the fourth episode of the Netflix series "Wednesday" has become a viral hit.
Following its premiere on Netflix last month, "Wednesday" became a big hit for the streamer. Ortega plays Wednesday Addams as she uncovers the mysteries of Nevermore Academy in this new "Addams Family" spinoff.
Wednesday's expressive moves at her school dance during the fourth episode of the season have since gone viral, even becoming a TikTok trend.
During the night's event, Wednesday treats her love interest, Xavier, to an eccentric dance routine as The Cramps' 1981 cover "Goo Goo Muck" plays.
Her blank and expressionless face adds to the intrigue of the moment as she performs the awkward yet confident moves. However, the 20-year-old actress has admitted something about the now-famous scene.
During a recent interview with TV Guide, she said even though she was not a dancer herself, she was the one who choreographed it all.
"That was interesting, choreographing that, especially because I'm not a dancer and Tim [Burton] completely trusted me and never questioned me at all, which was nice but also scary," Ortega noted.
According to Nile FM, the actress said despite her hectic schedule during the shooting, she still managed to fit in choreographing the dance.
She noted that it was a "jam-packed week," shooting episode three at the same time while learning German and doing a cello piece.
"There was a lot going on, and about two nights before [the dance sequence] I thought 'Oh, I said that I will do that and I haven't yet'," she said.
Jenna Ortega then admitted that she "didn't sleep for two nights and worked and filmed" herself.
"There were a lot of different [dance] versions of what could've happened, but that one seemed the most practical and made the most sense," she added.

Russian Figure Skating Champion Takes Inspiration From Jenna Ortega's Dance Routine
One of the people who tried to imitate Jenna Ortega's viral dance routine from the Netflix series "Wednesday" was Russian figure skating sensation Kamila Valieva.
According to NME, the 16-year-old figure skater, who already has three world records, even came to the rink dressed up as Wednesday Addams.
Valieva entered the 2023 Russian Figure Skating Championships in style, with Danny Elfman's Wednesday theme to start it all off before shifting to The Cramps' "Goo Goo Muck" to fully recreate Wednesday's dance.
She then ended her routine with a sped-up version of Lady Gaga's "Bloody Mary," which has proven to go well with Ortega's dance routine on TikTok.
Valieva won silver for her routine, but she did manage to catch the world's attention.
Jenna Ortega's Iconic Dance on 'Wednesday' Also Recreated Underwater
Not only was Wednesday Addams' dance recreated on ice, but it was also recreated underwater. A woman went viral for filming the routine underwater.
Kristina Makushenko is an underwater performer and free diver. She called her routine a "WEDNESDAY ADDAMS underwater version."
Her video has already garnered more than 726,000 likes on Instagram. Jenna Ortega has suddenly become a dancing icon, even though she admits she was never really a dancer herself.
