Lisa Marie Presley's Final IG Post Showed Her Grief
Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley's only child, passed away on Thursday at 54. She had suffered cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas, California.
Before she died, Presley wrote an Instagram post on her loss over the passing of her son Benjamin Keough in 2020, CBS News noted.
In commemoration of National Grief Awareness Day and the passing of Keough, who took his life at the age of 27, Presley wrote an essay for People magazine in August.
She posted the essay to Instagram in August with the caption: "Hi. In honor of National Grief Awareness Day, I wrote an essay about grief... I thought I'd post it here in the hopes that anyone who needs to hear all of this it helps in some way."
Lisa Marie Presley acknowledged in her essay that discussing death is uncomfortable but "has to get talked about."
"Death is part of life whether we like it or not - and so is grieving," she wrote.
Benjamin and 33-year-old Riley Keough are the children of Lisa Marie Presley and her first husband, Danny Keough.
Her second husband, music producer Michael Lockwood, is the father of her twins, Harper Vivienne and Finley Aaron, who are 14 years old.
Before Lisa Marie Presley's death, her mother, Priscilla, wrote a piece about her.
Priscilla posted on social media Thursday morning, saying that her daughter, Lisa Marie, was rushed to the hospital, receiving the best care. She requested everyone to pray for them, and asking for privacy during that difficult time.

Lisa Marie followed in her father's musical footsteps, adopting his dark allure (the hooded eyes, the arrogant smirk, the low, sexy voice) and released her rock albums in the 2000s while sharing the stage with Pat Benatar and Richard Hawley.
Lisa Marie Presley had spent the day of her father's birthday, January 8, in Graceland (Elvis's Memphis home and final resting place), before her Golden Globes attendance.
