Shakira's new diss track about ex-partner Gerard Pique brought to light a lot about how bad the breakup had been. The song broke all sorts of records as it quickly became one of the hottest Latin songs today, which begs the question, how did Shakira find out Gerard Pique was cheating on her?

According to Marca, reports indicated that the Colombian music icon may have discovered the Spanish soccer star's infidelity because of a jar of jam. Pique did not like jam, nor did their two children, but when Shakira went back home, she found the container empty, which she found to be weird.

In a recent interview, Shakira hinted that this may have really happened, though she did not confirm it. She stated that she checked the refrigerator upon coming home but discovered things have happened while she was away.

Shakira Hired Private Detectives to Investigate Gerard Pique's Infidelity

It seems that Shakira was indeed suspicious of her then-partner, so she hired a private detective to keep an eye on him and investigate if he truly was cheating on her.

The detectives were able to get compromising photos of Pique with a younger woman, and they featured him in all sorts of compromising situations. They gave the images to Shakira but also "betrayed" her by telling the media about part of the information they obtained.

However, there were also photos that never came to light, as Shakira paid the detectives for them because she wanted to keep her privacy.

"Shakira did not want the news to come out. Gerard is the one who forced it to come out." said press photographer Jordi Martin during the Univision TV show "El Gordo y la Flaca."

The former Manchester United and FC Barcelona star was cheating on Shakira with 23-year-old woman Clara Chía, who was reportedly a hostess at night in a nightclub that Pique frequented. They are still together, with Pique giving a cheeky reply to Shakira's viral song.

Shakira Also Feuding With Gerard Pique's Mother

In the diss track she made with Argentinian producer and DH Bizarrap, the Colombian singer complained about Pique leaving her with her mother-in-law. Following the release of the music video via the producer's YouTube channel, a terrifying witch doll was seen on the singer's balcony, and it's looking at the home of Pique's mother, whom Shakira is still neighbors with.

Residents are also reporting that Shakira is blasting the song at full volume from her home in Spain, as she made it crystal clear that she was talking about Pique's new 23-year-old girlfriend in the song.

Her former mother-in-law welcomed the new relationship, and her relationship with Shakira soured soon after, according to the Daily Mail.

In another interview, Shakira stated that her former mother-in-law gave her some bad advice when she made the singer cut her hair. Shakira stated that "My mother-in-law wondered why I didn't cut my hair, that it was a shame."

According to Marca, she did not like the idea and added, "I'm never going to listen to your style advice again!"
