People usually associate the Caribbean country of Curacao with fine sand, picturesque beaches, and clear blue seas. Curacao is one of the island countries that make up the Dutch Caribbean.

The country relies heavily on tourism. It is a haven for those who want to relax in the Caribbean Sea and want all sorts of adventures. According to Trip Advisor, it is filled with sugar-fine sand and calm waters that are also perfect for kids.

Its capital, Willemstad, is known for its colorful buildings that make people compare it to Europe, the Netherlands in particular, as the country was once a Dutch colony and remains a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

5 Most Stunning Places to Visit in Curacao

Curacao has plenty of attractions, including swimming in the island's majestic waters or any sea-related activities. Here are five places that merit a visit should one stay on the island.

Queen Emma Bridge

Also called the "Swinging Old Lady," this pontoon bridge opens to make way for oceangoing ships.

According to Lonely Planet, it is open to the public, with ferries shuttling passengers back and forth between the Punta and Otrobanda areas of Willemstad. The bridge also shows some great views of the island's beautiful Dutch architecture.

The Blue Room

Despite its name, the Blue Room is not really a room but Curacao's most famous natural wonder.

It is a hidden cave on the island's western shore and has attracted tourists for its electric-blue coloration created by sunlight refracting off the water's surface. It is often described as a hauntingly beautiful place people visit via boat or kayak.

Klein Curacao

This uninhabited island lets visitors enjoy a beautiful beach, swim with sea turtles, and explore its recently-renovated lighthouse. This desert island is located around 15 miles off the coast of Curacao and can be reached by booking boat trips from the marina on Caracas Bay.

Curacao Sea Adventure

Visitors who want a closer encounter with the country's marine life should visit the Curacao Sea Adventure in Willemstad. It features not just the usual aquarium filled with fishes, mollusks, and all sorts of other sea creatures but also many other activities.

Just outside the aquarium area, out on a beach, visitors can swim with and interact with dolphins. According to its official website, there are also other animal encounters, including nurse sharks, lemon sharks, and sting rays.

There is also an attraction called the Ocean Lens, which lets visitors see the ocean up close without even getting wet.

Shete Boka National Park

The name literally means "Seven Inlets" and is known for having a series of picturesque coves that nature has carved out of limestone. It is also a very popular surfing spot and a known sea turtle nesting ground.
