British actor Julian Sands, best known for his role in "A Room With a View," has gone missing while hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains in California.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Nate Campos told The Hollywood Reporter that the 65-year-old actor was reported missing at around 7:30 p.m. Friday. The British actor was reportedly in the Baldy Bowl area of Mt. Baldy, part of the San Gabriel Mountains, earlier that day.

California Authorities Continue to Search for Missing British Actor Julian Sands

Authorities quickly launched search operations for the British actor around the mountain. However, ground crews were taken off the area on Saturday evening because of avalanche risks and poor trail conditions due to snow.

According to the Associated Press, authorities said on Wednesday that the ground search for Julian Sands has not been able to resume since then.

For now, authorities said they are conducting the search for the British actor using helicopters and drones as weather allows. San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Gloria Huerta noted that they will resume the ground search when it is already safe.

A series of storms have made conditions around the San Gabriel Mountains dangerous. Two hikers have recently died around the area. They reportedly fell and injured themselves while hiking. Authorities now warned people to stay away from the Baldy Bowl area of Mt. Baldy.

"It is extremely dangerous and even experienced hikers are getting in trouble. Forest Service is responsible for that area and we are working with them on that issue," authorities said in an advisory.

Southern California has recently been hit with several storms, which made the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Search and Rescue (SAR) teams quite busy around Mt. Baldy.

According to Yahoo! Entertainment, they have already responded to 14 rescue missions there and in the surrounding area, including the two hikers who did not survive.

In a press release on Wednesday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office said the "current conditions on Mt. Baldy are adverse and extremely dangerous."

British Actor Julian Sands' Career

British actor Julian Sands started his career in the 1980s. In 1985, he starred opposite Helena Bonham Carter in director James Ivory's romance film, "A Room With a View."

Before this, he starred in mostly supporting roles in films such as "Oxford Blues" and "The Killing Fields." His filmography also includes "Warlock," "Arachnophobia," "Naked Lunch," "Boxing Helena," "Leaving Las Vegas," and "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." He also appeared in several TV series, including "Stargate SG-1," "24," and "Dexter."
