A six-month-old Ohio infant kidnapped with his twin sibling last month has reportedly died.

Police in Columbus, Ohio, claimed that they responded to a call about an infant who was unresponsive on East Whittier Street at around 10:30 pm on Saturday.

The Ohio infant was rushed to Children's Hospital, but at 11:44 pm, the doctors confirmed the infant's death.

Six-month-old infant, Ky'air Thomas, was identified by police; an autopsy is scheduled for Monday, per Fox News.

An official with the agency said that while the case is being investigated, it is not tied to the abduction of the Ohio infant as of Sunday afternoon.

Who Kidnapped the Ohio Infant Twins?

Nalah Jackson is suspected of stealing a 2010 Honda Accord outside a restaurant in the Short North neighborhood on December 19, with both twins inside while the boys' mom was inside picking up a DoorDash delivery.

Jackson was taken into custody after finding Ky'air at Dayton International Airport, but Kason was still missing.

Kason was found December 22 in a vehicle outside a Papa John's in Indianapolis.

Jackson was arrested and accused of kidnapping twice by local officials last month.

The federal grand jury indicted her this month on two charges of kidnapping.

According to the court documents, a plea has not been entered in the federal case. Franklin County inmate records show that Jackson has a court hearing on Tuesday for her state case, but it is currently unclear whether she has made a plea.

Kason Thomas Was Left Inside the Car for Hours Before Being Found by the Police

Sgt. Richard El and Shawn Anderson understood the seriousness of the situation when they learned that abduction suspect Nalah Jackson had been apprehended in Indianapolis on Thursday afternoon without the Ohio infant's twin, Kason Thomas.

Two officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department had spent most of their shift looking for a missing infant after a BOLO alert was issued in Indiana.

"You kind of get this feeling of maybe time might be running out or whatever the case may be," Sgt. El said. "And so, I just feel like we needed to try to locate him."

They would not find infant Kason until right before their shift was over.

He was in the parking lot of a Papa John's restaurant in Indianapolis, according to 10 WBNS.

An employee said the kid was likely left in the car since Tuesday morning when the vehicle was initially noticed.

Sgt. El explained that Kason was cold when they found him, but he was conscious, breathing, and moving.

"His eyes were open wide and just trying to take everything in," he added.

Pictures of Sgt. Anderson holding the infant rapidly went viral on the Internet.

"It was amazing how calm Kason was," he said. "He wasn't crying, he was very aware and observant. And I could tell just holding him, he felt a sense of comfort that he was safe and that everything was going to be okay."

Kason had a checkup at the hospital, and his family reported that he was doing well.
