Pablo Lyle, Mexican Telenovela Actor, Gets 5 Years in Prison Over Road Rage Incident
Mexican actor Pablo Lyle, best known for his work in various telenovelas, was sentenced to five years in prison with eight months' probation over a road rage incident in Miami back in 2019. He punched a man and this led to that man's death.
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez was the one who announced the telenovela actor's sentence, and this came just two months after she rejected his request for a new trial. Judge Mendez upheld the guilty verdict that a jury reached last October, according to the Associated Press.
The judge admitted that this was one of the most difficult decisions that she has ever made and that nobody will be satisfied with her decision. She also ruled that aside from his five-year sentence and eight-month probation, Lyle must also perform 500 hours of community service and complete anger management classes.
Mexican Telenovela Actor Pablo Lyle Remorseful as Sentencing Hearing Played Out
Pablo Lyle, who tried to get a new trial as he maintained that he was acting in self-defense during the confrontation, was remorseful for the death of Juan Ricardo Hernandez, whom he punched, leading to the man's death.
The actor stated, "It hunts me when I go to bed and it's still there when I wake up," adding, "I never wanted anything like this to happen."
The telenovela actor, who previously starred in the Netflix series, "Yankee," publicly apologized for the incident during the hearing and said that he has been wanting to apologize to Hernandez's family for years.

Lyle's lawyer, Attorney Bruce Lehr, argued that Hernandez, a Cuban immigrant, was the one who provoked the accident as he was the first one to get out of his car to confront Lyle's brother-in-law. However, prosecutors argued that Lyle, who at the start of the confrontation was only a bystander, made the "conscious decision" to punch Hernandez and flee before he was identified.
However, Lyle's attorney argued that his client had a "three-second adrenaline-filled mistake" and that should not make him a criminal. Meanwhile, prosecutors have argued that Lyle should not get probation and be deported back to Mexico, according to Local 10 News.
The Incident That Landed Pablo Lyle in Prison
The road rage incident involving Lyle and Hernandez happened in Miami in March 2019. Lyle was only a passenger at that time, with his brother-in-law driving him and his family. However, his brother-in-law cut off a car driven by 63-year-old Juan Ricardo Hernandez at the intersection of NW 27th Avenue and 14th Street.
Angry at being cut off, Hernandez got out of his car and confronted the brother-in-law. He was banging at the vehicle that Lyle and his family were in and argued with the driver.
A surveillance video showed Lyle running toward Hernandez and punching him. The punch knocked Hernandez out and this would lead him to die from injuries sustained from the punch, according to CBS Miami.
A Miami jury found him guilty of manslaughter back in October.
Pablo Lyle is known for his roles in various Mexican telenovelas, including "Mi Adorable Maldicion," "La Sombra Del Pasado," and "Corazón Que Miente"
