California: 2 Arrested in 'Cartel-Style' Killing of 6, Including Baby
A young mother and her baby were among the six people massacred in a "cartel-style" killing in California last month. Authorities revealed Friday that two suspects were arrested, one after a shootout.
Police said suspects Angel Uriarte, 35, and Noah Beard, 25, are well-known members of the Norteño gang.
In a press conference, Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux said the January 16 "cartel-style" killing likely resulted from a conflict with members of the rival gang Sureños, CNN reported.
He noted that the motivation was still unclear at the moment, but the suspects and the victims have a lengthy history of gun violence, "heavily active in guns, gang violence," and drug dealings.
According to authorities, Uriarte was wounded in a shootout with ATF officers before his arrest.
ATF's acting special agent in charge, Joshua Jackson, has confirmed that the suspect was hospitalized but already in stable condition. Beard was arrested without incident.

Investigator identified Noah Beard as the person responsible for the deaths of the 16-year-old mother and her infant son.
During the press conference, Boudreaux played surveillance video showing the young mom Alissa Parraz lifting her son over a wooden fence and climbing over moments before they were killed.
A man then walks toward them and raises his right arm. A dark shadow of a gun is seen in his hand before the footage cuts off.
Both victims were found dead in the street outside a home in Goshen, where other victims were massacred. Boudreaux said Alissa and her son were shot in the back of the head, the Los Angeles Times reported.
A 911 call was also played at the press conference, and a woman inside the house can be heard sobbing and pleading.
"They shot my boyfriend. They keep shooting outside... I don't know if they are still here. I'm scared... Please hurry, please. I don't know where they are now - [gasp] - they're still shooting," she noted.
"They're still shooting?" asked the dispatcher. "Yes," the woman answered. When the dispatcher asked her, "Who's coming back?" The woman said, "The guys."
Screams and shots can also be heard on the recording. Boudreaux said the woman who made the 911 call hid in a trailer and survived the attack.
The sheriff noted that the suspects first killed Eladio Parraz Jr., 52. Marcos Parraz, 19, and Jennifer Analla, 50, followed next.
Analia was shot in her sleep, while Rosa Parraz, 72, was shot in the head as she was on her knees beside her bed. Alissa and her 10-month-old baby Nycholas were the last to die that night.
Parraz Family in California Murdered in 'Cartel-Style' Killing Targeted by Gang Members
Mike Boudreaux said "cold-blooded killers" targeted the family.
Noah Beard and Angel Uriarte were charged by the Tulare County district attorney's office with six counts of murder and other special allegations, including multiple murders and committing murders to further criminal street gang's activities.
Boudreaux said that DNA analysis, sped up by ATF labs in Maryland, was a key piece of evidence that led to the suspects' arrests. He noted that the culprits had been under constant surveillance since January 23.
"I'm happy we were able to put these two men behind bars," Boudreaux said. Police said both suspects had a prior history of run-ins with the law, according to Fox KTVU.
Prosecutors claimed that Uriarte was convicted of assault with a firearm in association with a street gang in 2015, while Beard had juvenile convictions.
The "cartel-style" killing in Goshen occurred during a bloody month in California.
