Tostones or Patacones

Tostones or patacones are more of a snack or appetizer rather than a meal, but it's a great way to start things off when on a romantic date, as these are great for sharing with your partner.

According to Cocina, tostones are actually salty slices of fried green plantain. They are usually dipped in a mixture of yogurt, mayonnaise, cilantro, garlic, and a touch of lemon, so it's perfect for couples who want to spend a quiet night together and just chill and watch a romantic movie.

Red Chilaquiles

When we talk about Valentine's Day, red is usually the first color that comes to mind. That being said, Chilaquiles may be a good dish to follow up with that tostones appetizer as it is a nice red-colored meal.

According to Hispanic Kitchen, these are essentially the original nachos, as they are tortilla chips smothered in warm salsa roja or even an enchilada. It is also perfect for Valentine's Day, as February is a cold month, and it can warm you and your partner up.

Speaking of warming up, Peruvian shrimp soup, also known as Chiclayo, could be another excellent Valentine's Day meal, as it also promises to warm up the couple who eats it. It is colored red as well. This tomato-based shrimp soup is spiced up by hot peppers and filled with hearty vegetables like corn. Since this dish is Peruvian, it also has lots of yucca and potatoes.

Coconut Flan

Since it's Valentine's Day, it's also time to have some sweets, and coconut flan is another great dish to have on Valentine's Day as its silky texture contrasts nicely with the coconut flavoring. Coconut flan is made of eggs, coconut milk, condensed milk, and sugar for the caramel sauce.

Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries

We cannot celebrate Valentine's Day without any chocolate. This food is famous in Latin America and is undoubtedly a sweet dessert you can enjoy for your romantic dinner. This dessert is simply strawberries dipped in chocolate.
