The father of Major League Baseball (MLB) star Miguel Sano is now wanted in the Dominican Republic after he shot and killed his ex-girlfriend and wounded two other people on Sunday night.

According to the Daily Mail, Ricardo Sano arrived at a store in San Pedro de Macoris town where Yajaira Henderson, 36, was celebrating her sister's birthday and shot her at close range after confronting her.

He reportedly shot her three times. Surveillance camera footage shows that Ricardo fired into a crowd after getting into a heated argument with Henderson and dragging her out of the shop as she refused to leave with him.

Standing on the sidewalk, Henderson was seen terrified as Ricardo walked over and aimed the gun at her. Miguel Sano's father also wounded Yuly Guerrero, 28, and Juan Delgado, 35, after he fired into the crowd as he escaped using a motorcycle.

According to the elCaribe, local police believed that it was a crime of passion. The local newspaper also reported that seven women had already been killed by their intimate partners or ex-lovers in less than two months in the Dominican Republic.

The wounded were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while Henderson's body was transported to the National Institute of Forensic Science for autopsy.

MLB Star Miguel Sano

MLB star Miguel Angel Jean Sano, better known as Miguel Sano, was born on May 11, 1993, in San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic. He is the designated hitter and third outfielder for the Minnesota Twins.

Sano began his professional career in the MLB by signing with the Minnesota Twins on July 2, 2015, PlayersWiki reported. His $3.15 million signing bonus with the Minnesota Twins was reportedly the highest for a Dominican player and the largest for a Latin American player outside Cuba.

Sano also was honored as the American League Rookie of the Month in August 2015. He finished third in the American League's voting for rookie of the year.

He started the 2016 season in right field for the Twins after being forced to play third base, where he could have been more effective. That same year, he entered into a contract with the New York-based Roc Nation agency, which was founded and owned by Jay-Z in 2008.

Last November, the 27-year-old MLB star became a free agent after the Minnesota Twins declined to exercise the club option on his contract. According to SKOR North, Sano, who spent 12 seasons with the Minnesota Twins, was scheduled to hold a showcase with several teams on February 2.

He reportedly suffered two knee injuries last year and was limited to only 20 games. According to reports, he hit .083 with one home run in 71 plate appearances.

Authorities Say MLB Star Miguel Sano's Father May Have Committed Suicide

Police have asked Ricardo Sano to turn himself in. The MLB star's father remained a fugitive until Monday night as the evidence against him piled up. According to Record.com.do, various sources said that Miguel Sano's father had ended his life after killing his ex-girlfriend.

Twitter users, including a local journalist, said Ricardo committed suicide on the farm of his son, Miguel Cano. However, Dominican Republic officials have yet to confirm this report.
