Idaho Murder Suspect Bryan Kohberger Has Admirers Who Praise His Looks, Question Guilt on Social Media
Bryan Kohberger has earned admirers who praised his looks and even questioned whether the accused Idaho murder suspect is guilty of the allegations against him.
According to Fox News, there are several social media groups sympathetic to Kohberger, with one Facebook group with 3,000 members created days after his arrest. There was also a Reddit sub with a thread entitled, "What was it about Bryan that got your liking?"
Another subreddit named r/BryanKohberger has a thread titled "Why Bryan Kohberger Is Not Guilty," which has earned hundreds of comments. A Facebook user also reportedly wrote dozens of love notes to Kohberger, describing him as her "divine masculine."
One pro-Kohberger Reddit commenter told Fox News that there was "something so magnetic" about the Idaho murder suspect. She added that if Kohberger really did creep women out, she did not understand why.
Kohberger's former Pennsylvania attorney, Jason LaBar, previously said his client was "shocked, a little bit" by the accusations against him. LaBar represented Kohberger in his extradition process, but he was not the lawyer for the criminal case.
The alleged Idaho murder suspect waived an extradition hearing in Pennsylvania to face murder charges in Idaho and get closer to exoneration, according to LaBar.
Idaho Murder Suspect Bryan Kohberger
A record showed that Bryan Kohberger was called to a meeting with faculty members to discuss growing concerns regarding his behavior less than two weeks before the Idaho murders in November.
The Washington State University faculty's concerns led to the termination of Kohberger from his teaching assistant role in December, shortly before his arrest, sources told The New York Times.
The sources were three individuals familiar with Kohberger's time at the university. The Times also cited a formal letter informing the Idaho murder suspect that he failed to meet the conditions required to maintain his funding.
Before he was charged with four murders, Kohberger reportedly had a verbal altercation with a professor. She was also investigated over his behavior around female students.
Multiple female students had complained of Kohberger making them feel uncomfortable, which was brought to the knowledge of the university professors. Two people familiar with the incident noted that one incident had Kohberger following a female student to her car.
Idaho Murders
Bryan Kohberger was arrested on December 30 and was charged with four counts of first-degree murder and felony burglary for the November 13 killings of Ethan Chapin, 20; Xana Kernodle, 20; Madison Mogen, 21; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21.
He allegedly stabbed the four college students to death inside their off-campus home in the town of Moscow. Mogen, Kernodle, and Gonclaves had two other roommates in the six-bedroom home, while Chapin was dating Kernodle at the time and was staying that night.
The four victims were all stabbed using a fixed-blade knife between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on both the second and third floors. The murder weapon was not recovered, but its sheath was found at the crime scene.
Moscow residents, students, and victims' families complained about the limited and contradictory information released by public officials. Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt previously confirmed that the students' cause and manner of death were homicide by stabbings.
Mabbutt added that the victims were likely ambushed in their sleep, and each had multiple stab wounds.
