Chris Brown Zone 2014: BET Considering Post-Jail Reality TV Series of 'Loyal' Singer
BET is reportedly currently considering a post-jail reality television series focused on Chris Brown, who was released from jail weeks ago.
According to TMZ, Black Entertainment Television is eager to sign the "Loyal" hit-maker to his own reality show, and it held focus groups Tuesday to find out if the new series would appeal to viewers.
The potential program would chronicle the 25-year-old R&B singer's life and daily events following his legal troubles. One focus group's members, all African-American women, were asked if they would tune in to a Chris Brown reality show -- and most said they'd watch it to see if he screwed up.
Meanwhile, Brown could get locked up again after he rejected a plea deal in his Washington, D.C., assault case. Under the proposed deal terms, he would have pleaded guilty in exchange for time served and no probation. However, the negotiations fell apart just before the court hearing Wednesday when he turned down the deal when the attorneys could not agree on what he would acknowledge had happened during the infamous confrontation outside the W Hotel in D.C. in October that led to his arrest.
As a result, Brown now will have to head to trial to defend himself against the assault allegation, which could send him back to jail. A judge set Sept. 8 as the trial date, and the case is expected to take a day and a half.
Prosecutors maintain that in the D.C. confrontation, Brown and bodyguard Christopher Hollosy both punched Parker Adams, a fan trying to take a picture with the singer and two women. Brown was already on probation in California for a 2009 attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna when the alleged D.C. attack occurred.
