Lady Gaga looked a lot more like Harley Quinn when she was spotted in New York on the set of "Joker 2" or "Joker: Folie à Deux" than in the teaser the movie released last month, said IGN.

Since being cast as Harley Quinn in the upcoming sequel, this is the first time Lady Gaga has seen the character's signature eye makeup and diamond-patterned attire.

Gaga was spotted on the set yesterday alongside Gotham PD cops and what seems like a protesting crowd of Gotham locals. Many people in Gotham City are seen with Joker-themed face paint, masks, and "Free Joker" banners, suggesting that Arthur Fleck is not let off the hook for his actions on the Murray Franklin Show, the final episode of 2019. There were a lot of signs in the crowd, and one of them stated, "Dent is the Clown," suggesting Harvey Dent will have a role in the sequel.

Harley Quinn 'Expert' Grimes Believes Lady Gaga's Performance Will be Just Fine

As soon as the first photos of Lady Gaga in full Harley Quinn makeup from the set of "Joker: Folie a Deux" began making the rounds online, fans of the deranged character voiced their opinions, per Uproxx.

One was the singer, musician, and producer Grimes. Even though she tried her hardest to be "infinitely less accessible," she could not help but post a comment online.

Grimes, who never holds back her thoughts on anything (especially the Grammys), shared her thoughts on a character she considers herself an expert in.

In a Twitter post, she said, "I probably have the most opinion about Harley Quinn of anyone, but taking on Robbie's utterly iconic performance [is] gonna be near impossible for anyone besides Gaga."

It is not just Grimes who thinks highly of Lady Gaga. Actress Margot Robbie, who has played the role three times (including in Birds of Prey in 2020), agrees that the singer would be a good fit.

"I think [Gaga's] going to do an amazing job," Robbie said, adding that she wanted Harley to become a figure like Batman or Hamlet, where different actors take turns performing the part. "I think it's just credit to her as a character that people want to see her in multiple iterations. I'm excited," she concluded.

After the photograph of Lady Gaga dressed as Harley Quinn appeared online, it was covered by several entertainment websites. Users' reactions to this unofficial look at Harley have been mixed, Yahoo noted.

But this is only a picture, and fans have not seen Lady Gaga's performances, so fans should not get too excited.

The "Hold My Hand" singer has reportedly been working hard on the "Joker 2" set.

Cinematographer Lawrence Sher agrees, saying Lady Gaga adds "a similar kind of magic that Joaquin brought by himself."

In a perfect world, the film's final cut would confirm all of these hopes, and the singer's performance would be so outstanding that it would earn her an Oscar nomination.

"Joker: Folie à Deux" comes out in theaters on October 4, 2024, and fans will experience this version of Harley Quinn in all her magnificence.
