Donald Trump Jr. Urges for the Halt of Bud Light Boycott; Here's Why
Donald Trump Jr., the eldest of former U.S. President Donald Trump, has called for the end of the Bud Light boycott, which was launched by conservatives. The boycott was imposed after the company owned by Anheuser-Busch partnered with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
Business Insider reported that Trump Jr. addressed the issue by saying that he is not up for "destroying an American, an iconic company" over such a matter.
He went on to say that the company does not include itself in the "same leftist nonsense" as compared to other big companies.
Trump Jr. said that the company does not participate in the same "woke garbage" that other people in the business do.
The backlash the company faced started when Mulvaney posted about Bud Light-sponsored Instagram content. She was seen drinking the beer on camera.
The trans influencer wrote a caption "Happy March Madness!" She also noted that the company has a prize money of $15,000 for those participating.
Donald Trump Jr. Calling for Stop of Bud Light Boycott
Trump Jr. said that he is not going to blame the whole company on someone else's "stupidity in a marketing campaign. He then described it as "woke as hell," according to Fox News.
Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth released a statement on Friday to address the issue.
Whitworth said that they never planned to be "part of a discussion that divides people," adding that they are in the business of gathering people together "over a beer."
The CEO said that he is focused on creating and protecting the company's "remarkable history and heritage."
Meanwhile, it was reported that Trump Jr. is calling for the halt of the conservative-led boycott due to the company's substantial donations to the National Republican Senatorial Committee in the 2022 election cycle. The donation was worth $514,375.
Individuals who are connected to the company also donated $464,505 to the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Bud Light Partnership with Dylan Mulvaney
Mulvaney is known to be a transgender actress and influencer. She has performed in the "Book of Mormon" musical and had discussions with U.S. President Joe Biden.
It was not immediately clear whether the protest expanded beyond right-wing figures, who threatened boycotts whenever a known company shows acceptance towards gender fluidity, as reported by The Washington Post.
A Budweiser contributor canceled a promotional event in Missouri due to concerns about the safety of their employees.
The company also noted that it was working with law enforcement after the new site reported that many of its facilities had received bomb threats.
Fox News and other right-leaning media outlets called the statement of Whitworth a "nothing statement."
Some of the figures who reacted to the post of Mulvaney included Kid Rock, who posted an Instagram video of himself shooting cases of Bud Light.
Country music singer Travis Tritt also announced that he would prohibit Anheuser-Busch beverages from his tour.
