An 11-month-old baby girl has died in Palm Bay, Florida after she was left by her parents inside their car under the scorching hot Florida weather. Her parents were reportedly attending church when they left the baby in their vehicle.

Fox Weather reported that the 11-month-old infant was left inside the couple's car for around three hours before she was discovered and found to be unresponsive. The baby was then transported to the Palm Bay Community Hospital but it was too late as she was declared dead there.

"This is an unfortunate incident, and our condolences and prayers go out to the family," said Palm Bay Police Chief Mario Augello in a statement.

For now, the Florida parents have not been arrested yet, though an investigation has already been launched and is currently ongoing.

Car Temperature When Florida Baby Died Was Scorching Hot

Florida is considered one of the warmest states in the US. However, the temperature on the day the 11-month-old baby girl was left inside the car and died was just around 70 degrees Fahrenheit outside the vehicle. Inside, however, was a different story.

According to ABC News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recorded the temperature inside the car that the infant was left in and stated that it was over 115 degrees Fahrenheit, even though the temperature outside was only in the high 70s.

The baby was reportedly left by her parents inside the vehicle around midday, the hottest time of day. She is the latest child to die of heatstroke inside a vehicle, and this phenomenon has been happening in the United States for quite some time now.

 The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recorded that at least 33 children have died of heatstroke inside vehicles last year alone.

Florida Parents Leaving Baby Inside Hot Car Nothing New

According to Fox 35 Orlando, the 11-month-old infant is already the sixth child to die inside a hot car this year. It also noted that over 1,000 kids have also died after being left by their parents or guardians inside hot cars across the United States since 1990.

Kids and Cars, an organization that provides information, resources, and preventative measures regarding hot car deaths, has released research that showed that of all those hot car deaths since 1990, over 50% of them were because an adult unknowingly left the child inside the car.

The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been warning people never to leave infants or children in a parked car, yet most people either do not listen or just simply forget about the kids they left inside.

The government health agency also warned that cars can become hot very quickly, especially in hot weather as temperatures could rise by nearly 20 degrees in just a few minutes. They have also issued useful tips so people do not forget about their children inside their vehicles, such as checking the backseat every time you leave the vehicle.
