Donald Trump Classified Documents Scandal: Campaign Advisor Who Saw Classified Map Is Also a Lobbyist for Chinese Firm
One of the unauthorized people Donald Trump showed classified documents to was a campaign advisor, who was also a lobbyist for a company from China, sources say.
That Trump campaign advisor was identified as Susie Wiles, and she is working on the ex-POTUS's 2024 run. However, it also turns out that she also holds a top position at a lobbying firm that serves Chinese companies. Yahoo! News reports that experts are now raising red flags as this might pose a threat to national security.
Wiles is co-chair of Mercury Public Affairs, which has been receiving millions of dollars from Chinese companies such as Yealink, Hikvision, and Alibaba. However, she also reportedly saw a classified map as she was identified as the "representative of his political action committee" in special counsel Jack Smith's 37-count indictment against Donald Trump.
The indictment stated that the campaign representative was shown a classified map of an unidentified country while visiting him at his Bedminster golf club in August or September 2021. Donald Trump reportedly admitted to the campaign advisor that "he should not be showing" the document and even warned that person not to get too close.
Legal experts pointed out that Wiles's rank in the Trump campaign and her connection to China could potentially complicate the Trump classified documents case for the former president even further.
Intelligence Agencies Confirm That Donald Trump Had No 'Standing Order' to Declassify Documents
With special counsel Jack Smith closing in on the ex-POTUS, several media outlets filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Justice Department's national security division to look for his standing order to declassify the documents and found that Donald Trump's claims that he declassified them were false.

According to Yahoo! News, the government stated that the "standing order's" existence could neither be confirmed nor denied because of the ongoing case. However, national experts and former Trump administration officials are admittedly highly skeptical of the claim, with several news outlets reporting that no order had been filed at all.
Trump claims that he issued the order while he was still president. It is one of his only legal defenses in his retention of classified documents. Publicly, he claims that the investigation was a political attack, as he is currently leading the Republican race for the presidential nomination.
Donald Trump Not Heeding Legal Warnings Regarding Classified Documents Case, New Photos Show
New photos showed that while in Philadelphia to court Moms for Liberty, Trump was seen eating cheesesteaks with classified documents case co-defendant Walt Nauta. She Knows pointed out that this might put Trump and Nauta in legal peril as US Magistrate Judge Jonathan Goodman ordered both of them not to talk about the case to one another.
While it is not known what they were discussing during that meeting, it does raise questions on whether Nauta and Trump actually did. However, it should be pointed out that Nauta remains a close aide of Trump.
