Victor Wembanyama, the top NBA draft pick for the San Antonio Spurs, has acknowledged his involvement in an incident in Las Vegas on Wednesday night, according to Sports Illustrated.

The incident reportedly involved Wembanyama, a Spurs' security team member, and pop star Britney Spears.

Following the incident, Spears filed a police report, which was received by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

According to the police statement, the incident occurred on the 3700 block of Las Vegas Boulevard, and officers were called to investigate a potential battery incident.

However, as of now, no arrests or citations have been made in connection with the incident.

Victor Wembanyama Says Brittney Spears' Grabbed Me from Behind'

The incident happened at Catch restaurant in the ARIA Hotel at approximately 8:30 pm, according to the report, per SI.

Britney Spears and her husband were at the establishment and reportedly faced a crowd of enthusiastic fans.

Unexpectedly, the renowned entertainer seemed to embrace her fan role amidst the swarm of supporters.

Meanwhile, Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs' top draft pick, revealed that security had advised him not to stop for anyone as he entered the restaurant, as it could potentially cause a commotion and attract a larger crowd, ESPN noted.

While walking through the hallway, Wembanyama was being called at by several people, but he continued walking as instructed.

Suddenly, someone grabbed him from behind, although he couldn't see who it was because he was focused on moving forward.

"I couldn't stop. That person was calling me, 'Sir, sir,' and that person grabbed me from behind," Wembanyama said.

He knew that the security personnel accompanying him intervened and pushed the person away.

Without stopping to investigate further, Wembanyama entered the restaurant and enjoyed his meal.

Wembanyama admitted that he was unaware of the incident making headlines until the following day.

It was only upon returning to his hotel and being informed by the Spurs' security team that he learned the person involved was Britney Spears.

"At first, I was like, 'You're joking,' but yeah, it turns out it was Britney Spears. I never saw her face. I just kept walking straight," he said.

Brittney Spears Contradicts Victor Wembanyama's Statement: 'I Tapped Him on the Shoulder'

In response to Wembanyama's account of the incident, Britney Spears took to social media on Thursday evening to release a statement contradicting his claims.

She expressed her dissatisfaction with the lack of an apology from Wembanyama and the Spurs organization, KENS5 reports.

Spears clarified that she had recognized the athlete in the hotel lobby and decided to approach him to offer her congratulations on his success.

Due to the loud environment, she tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.

"I am aware of the players statement where he mentions "I grabbed him from behind," but I simply tapped him on the shoulder," the pop icon said.

However, according to Spears, Wembanyama's security reacted by backhanding her in the face without looking back, causing her glasses to fall off and nearly knocking her down in front of a crowd.

The pop star emphasized that being swarmed by people is not uncommon for her. On the same night, she encountered a group of at least 20 fans who did not experience any aggression from her security team.

Spears regarded the situation as embarrassing but felt it was important to share her story to highlight the need for public figures to set an example by treating all individuals with respect.

She called attention to the prevalence of physical violence, often hidden behind closed doors, and expressed solidarity with all victims.

Spears concluded that she had not received a public apology from Wembanyama, his security team, or the Spurs organization, expressing her hope that they would address the issue appropriately.
