Florida Governor Ron DeSantis continues struggling with his 2024 presidential run, though he is trying to shake things up by appointing a new campaign manager as he tries to catch up to former President Donald Trump. The former president is maintaining his massive lead in the polls despite the myriad of legal cases and scandals that he is facing.

DeSantis is replacing Generra Peck, who oversaw DeSantis's blowout reelection last year, with his current Florida Chief of Staff James Uthmeier. This comes amid DeSantis not just slumping in the polls, but also struggling with his finances as the campaign was forced to fire around a third of his staff.

According to the Washington Post, allies have bemoaned several of the Florida governor's "unforced errors." which includes the campaign sharing a homophobic meme video that led to serious backlash. Many of his allies also blamed Trump's recent indictments for the classified documents case and the election interference case as it rallied the GOP base to the former president's side.

Ron DeSantis is also shuffling other staffers as pro-DeSantis super PAC Never Back Down adviser David Polyansky will now be serving as his deputy campaign manager while DeSantis campaign senior adviser Ryan Tyson and Florida operative Marc Reichelderfer are reported to be taking on elevated roles now. Campaign spokesman Bryan Griffin confirmed this reshuffling.

Ron DeSantis Takes Shot at Opponents With the Help of His Children

Meanwhile, as he is shuffling around his campaign staff and getting rid of some of them, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is continuing his 2024 campaign on the road. Now, however, the controversial Republican is using his kids to attack his opponents.

During a campaign stop, DeSantis took aim at Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, by talking about his own kids. "You're not going to have to worry about them bringing cocaine into the White House," the Florida governor said, referencing the cocaine recently found at the White House, though authorities could not connect it to any of the Bidens as the First Family was in Camp David at that time.

"Hunter Biden gets a million dollars for his paintings," added DeSantis, referencing the presidential son's painting that was sold for $500,000. "Come on. My 6-year-old daughter does a better job than Hunter."

The Washington Post noted that the Republican governor has increasingly been using his kids on the campaign trail in an effort to humanize himself as he continues to struggle in the polls.

Ron DeSantis's Largest Donor Stops Supporting Him, Says Florida Governor Becoming Extreme

Ron DeSantis's 2024 presidential run also suffered a massive blow, and it is all thanks to the Florida governor's move to the far right.

Real estate mogul Robert Bigelow once donated $20 million to a pro-DeSantis Super PAC, making him the Florida governor's biggest donor for 2024. However. Bigelow announced that he is not giving any money to DeSantis anymore, saying that the governor has embraced "Extremism," according to Vanity Fair.

The real estate tycoon once said he'd "go without food" to push a DeSantis presidential bid. However, he stated that the Florida governor should moderate his campaign, saying that DeSantis's "extremism" on abortion has become a sore spot for the billionaire.
