Julio Urias, Los Angeles Dodgers Pitcher, Arrested on Domestic Violence
Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias was taken into custody and accused of committing a serious act of domestic violence on Sunday evening, according to MLB.
The Dodgers addressed the situation in a statement released Monday, acknowledging the incident involving Julio Urias.
The team stated that while actively seeking to understand the full details, he will not accompany the team during this time. They refrained from providing additional comments at this juncture.
After spending the night in a Los Angeles jail, Julio Urias was released Monday morning upon posting a $50,000 bond.
His court appearance is scheduled for September 27. In response to this situation, a Major League Baseball representative confirmed their awareness of the arrest and stated their intention to investigate.
This is the second instance of Urias facing allegations of domestic violence. Notably, he was taken into custody in a prior case but was not formally charged.

Julio Urias' First Domestic Violence Case
Julio Urias encountered legal trouble when apprehended in a Los Angeles parking lot in 2019. Eyewitnesses informed the police that Urias pushed a woman to the ground.
Although security footage corroborated these accounts, the woman told law enforcement that her fall was accidental.
As a result, the Los Angeles city attorney opted not to pursue formal charges against Urias. Instead, they chose to defer the charges, contingent on Urias completing a comprehensive 52-week program focused on domestic violence counseling.
Additionally, as part of the arrangement, Urias was required to remain free from any arrests related to violent offenses throughout the following year, corresponding to the statute of limitations period.
While charges were not officially filed in 2019, the incident remains in the public record, alongside the corresponding police report.
The incident subsequently led to Julio Urias receiving a 20-game suspension in 2019, an action initiated by Commissioner Rob Manfred, Yahoo! Sports reported.
The suspension was per the MLB and Major League Baseball Players Association joint policy concerning domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse.
Julio Urias and the Los Angeles Dodgers
Throughout his professional career, Julio Urias, now 27 years old, has remained a steadfast member of the Dodgers' roster.
Hailing from Culiacan, Mexico, Urias embarked on his journey with the Dodgers at a young age, NBC Los Angeles noted. He was 16 when he inked a deal with the team in 2012.
Fast forward to 2016, and Urias made a notable mark in the Major Leagues with his debut.
Urias has notably been a standout performer in baseball, particularly over the last three years, per ESPN.
A pinnacle was reached during the previous season: he secured an impressive 2.16 ERA, leading the National League in this aspect and securing a commendable third-place finish in the Cy Young Award ranking.
However, this season has seen a departure from his previous success, with struggles evident in his performance.
The 4.60 ERA he has posted, combined with allowing a career-high 24 home runs over 117⅓ innings, marks a departure from his prior achievements.
Following his initial involvement in a domestic violence case, which led to his suspension by MLB, the Dodgers responded by endorsing the league's decision.
Their statement conveyed support for the action taken, highlighting their belief that Julio Urias would take the necessary steps to learn and grow from the experience, said USA TODAY.
Urias acknowledged the incident while underlining that there was no history of violence or injury.
He embraced the notion that professional athletes are held to a heightened standard. He expressed his commitment to personal growth, both on and off the field, and in his relationships.
