Selena Gomez Reaches Settlement in Lawsuit Vs. Mobile Game for Using Her Likeness
Actress and singer Selena Gomez has reached a settlement in her lawsuit against the makers of the mobile game titled " Clothes Forever - Styling Game." She claimed that it used her likeness without permission.
She filed the lawsuit back in April 2020 and only reached its settlement now. The terms of the settlement have not yet been disclosed as it is still pending approval from the judge. However, this will allow Gomez and the game company to avoid a messy trial that was supposed to happen in October.
The lawsuit's filing claimed that "Clothes Forever - Styling Game" blatantly ripped off Gomez's popular image and that she was asking up to $10 million, claiming that they stole her image and likeness, according to Rolling Stone magazine.
"Selena Gomez is a style icon," said her lawyer, Alex Weingarten. "This is an egregious violation of Selena's rights, which we will litigate vigorously to vindicate."
It was not just Selena Gomez whose image and likeness the game reportedly stole, as it also featured characters who looked like Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift, and Kim Kardashian.
The game itself was developed by a Chinese game publisher known as Guangzhou Fiedong Software Technology. It used to be available on the Apple App Store but is no longer available for download.

The BuzzFeed Celeb Instagram page reportedly posted about the incident and speculated why the actress-singer was covering her ears during the performance. However, Selena Gomez actually replied to the post and wrote, "I heard a loud noise and it scared me."
According to Harper's Bazaar, this was the first time that she addressed the issue regarding her reaction to Olivia Rodrigo's performance at the VMAs. She did address her reaction to Chris Brown earlier, however, vowing on social media, "I will never be a meme again. I'd rather sit still than be dragged for being myself. Much love."
Gomez had a rather disgusted reaction to Chris Brown's nomination where she earned the ire of the controversial rapper's fans. However, to this, she commented, "Who cares lol." Brown has been known for beating up women, especially Rihanna, while they were still dating.
Selena Gomez Recently Hung Out With "Bestie" Taylor Swift
Speaking of the VMAs, Selena Gomez also reunited with her BFF, Taylor Swift, though her Chris Brown reaction overshadowed that reunion. The two best friends, however, were spotted together again right after their VMA reunion.
According to E! News, Selena shared new selfies with Swift as they were hanging out together just four days after the awards show. "Thas my best frien -she a real bad," wrote the actress and singer in her post.
