A tragic incident unfolded in Roseville, Minnesota, over the weekend, where police report a murder-suicide that claimed the lives of three men while a fourth individual remains hospitalized.

The incident transpired at an apartment complex on the 1600 block of Eldridge Avenue on Saturday, CBS News noted.

Surviving the ordeal, 33-year-old Nou Xiong recounted to authorities that his friend suddenly launched a violent attack against the group, wielding a knife and a gun.

Xiong managed to escape to a bedroom and alerted his girlfriend, who promptly called the police for help.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the apartment's resident, Meng Vang, was the perpetrator responsible for the tragic deaths of John Thao and Fong Vang before taking his own life.

Law enforcement officials suggest that hallucinogenic drugs might have contributed to the incident.

All the involved parties were in their early thirties. Xiong is currently in stable condition at the hospital.

Deputy Chief Joe Adams emphasized that no additional suspects were sought in connection with the incident, and they believe the four men, including the hospitalized victim, were the sole individuals involved.

Notably, all four men were acquainted prior to this tragic event, according to KSTP-TV.

The incident left nearby neighbors shocked as they woke up to the presence of police vehicles and caution tape.

Distraught family members and friends of the deceased gathered behind the police lines as the Medical Examiner's office retrieved three body bags on Saturday afternoon.

One of the affected family members, Cha Vang, expressed his sorrow, explaining that his youngest brother was among the deceased.

He found the situation sad, unexpected, and devastating. He noted that the events leading up to the tragedy began the night before when his brother invited friends over, suspecting that they may have consumed "some kind of drink."

Law enforcement officials have reassured the public that there is no ongoing risk related to this incident.

Thao was celebrated for his talent and contributions to this sport, which was brought to St. Paul by Hmong immigrants, leading to the installation of permanent courts in 2017.

Tzianeng Vang, the current chair of Team USA, considered Thao one of the sport's finest players. Thao's accolades included winning two gold medals in the World Cup the previous year.

Friends and acquaintances remember Thao not only for his sporting achievements but also for his talents in singing and acting.

He was admired for his leadership, respect within the community, and his exceptional character as a human being. The shock and loss of someone like him are deeply felt by those who knew him best.
