Texas Shooting: 2 Dead, 2 Injured Following a Family Dispute That Stemmed From Divorce
A family dispute escalated into a deadly shooting incident, leaving two Texas women dead and two men injured on a Sunday morning.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation into this tragic event, according to ABC 13.
Around 10:16 AM, deputies received two calls reporting a verbal argument involving a couple in their mid-20s.
A mere ten minutes later, the situation escalated, with reports of an active shooting occurring at a residence in the 8700 block of Cypressbrook Drive.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez conveyed via social media that the fatal shooting may have been sparked by a family dispute, potentially linked to a breakup or divorce.
Importantly, he assured the community that the scene had been contained and there was no immediate threat to neighbors.

Mother, Daughter-In-Law Confirmed Dead on the Spot
Sheriff Gonzalez confirmed that a 65-year-old Texas woman and her 28-year-old daughter-in-law, both residents of the home where the incident took place, were pronounced dead at the scene, Yahoo! News noted.
Additionally, two men sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital, where they were in serious but stable condition.
Remarkably, a 2-year-old child was inside the house when the shooting occurred, but a relative managed to ensure the toddler's safety.
The ongoing investigation seeks to piece together the events that transpired during the dispute, which reportedly involved as many as three shooters and seven individuals in total.
Most of the shots were fired within the residential property, situated roughly 20 miles northwest of downtown Houston.
However, evidence indicated that gunfire also occurred outside the premises, as reported by Sheriff Gonzalez.
Argument Led to Texas Shooting
James Grantom, a resident of the home on Cypressbrook Drive, narrated a heartbreaking account of the incident, as per Click 2 Houston.
He revealed that his mother, Deborah Grantom, initially tried to de-escalate the situation, driven by her kind-hearted nature. Tragically, her attempts led to her being outside when the Texas shooting began.
The dispute unfolded between Grantom's brother, 28-year-old Devin Grantom, and his wife, 28-year-old Courtney Grantom, who shared a 2-year-old son.
Their intentions to divorce were known, and the argument that morning signaled the eruption of violence.
James disclosed that Courtney's father had arrived at the home despite a prior trespassing warning against him. This escalated the situation further, leading to a confrontation.
During the dispute, at least three individuals fired shots, with Courtney's father being wounded.
James's brother's friend also arrived at the scene to de-escalate the situation but fell victim to gunfire.
His brother was later handcuffed at the scene as authorities sought to gather information.
During the turmoil, Grantom's focus was on protecting his nephew. He recounted running to the back of the house with the child to safeguard his life, even as the shooting continued.
Although his nephew emerged unharmed, Grantom was left to grapple with the heartache of losing both his mother and sister-in-law.
His mother, who had recently retired after 20 years of service with Cy-Fair ISD, is mourned by the family and community.
As of now, the Harris County Sheriff's Office has questioned his brother but has not made any arrests or filed charges. The investigation into this recent Texas shooting remains ongoing.
