After weeks of rumors, WWE has now reportedly rejected a possible CM Punk return. This came after the former WWE and AEW World Champion was fired by AEW.

Soon after his firing from AEW after he had a confrontation with owner Tony Khan, reports of him talking to WWE have popped up. However, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio broke the news on Tuesday night that the talks between the two sides did not result in what Punk wanted.

"They turned him down," said the famous wrestling insider. "The decision was a no. He wanted to go there and the decision was a no. I mean, it can always change and it was brought up to me that there is no such thing as no forever when it comes to WWE but it's no for now."

Meltzer also revealed that the decision to turn down the CM Punk return did not come from Triple H who has a very public beef with Punk, but Vince McMahon himself. "It's Vince's decision. Vince, Nick Khan, Paul Levesque and, obviously, they decided that the negatives outweighed the positives," reported Meltzer.

"Big Dave" also noted that WWE was already in talks with CM Punk since he was injured following All Out 2022. "About 10 months ago, they were talking again at that point but he was still under contract to AEW and I was told that that would be a no," reported Meltzer. "But it's easy to say it's a no because there's no chance they could get him because of the contract. But this time they could, and they decided to pass."

Punk has always been a popular and talented wrestler. However, his backstage attitude and fights with AEW wrestlers and management behind the scenes may have turned WWE off from hiring him again.

What is Next for CM Punk After WWE Rejection?

With his real-life feud with AEW management still happening and WWE rejecting him, questions are now circling on where "Chick Magnet" Punk will land next. WWE and AEW are currently out of the question for now, so where will he land?

Bleacher Report noted that New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) is not possible as the third biggest wrestling promotion in the world has ties with AEW and they may not hire him out of respect for their relationship with Tony Khan. There is also the fact that Punk would be required to wrestle overseas.

As for other promotions, it is noted that CM Punk may have a very high asking price and promotions such as Impact Wrestling, NWA, MLW, and GCW may not be able to afford him.

Triple H Now Fully Controls WWE Creative

Meanwhile, over in WWE, Vince McMahon is now out of WWE Creative, leaving Paul "Triple H" Levesque in full control of the storylines happening on WWE programming such as Raw, Smackdown, and NXT.

With Vince McMahon's WWE return, he also took back control of Creative and inserted his own ideas into WWE programming. This included typical things McMahon would do when he was in charge, including changing storylines on a whim on the day of the show.

According to Ringside Intel, Triple H now has 99.9% control of Creative and this has boosted morale in WWE. This Creative control is evident as people associated more with Triple H, such as D.I.Y. have finally made it to the main roster, while Puerto Rican wrestling icon, Carlito, finally made his ring return to help out Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar, thus officially joining the Latino World Order (LWO).
