Joe Biden Invades Donald Trump's Truth Social, Says 'Because We Thought It Would Be Very Funny'
Joe Biden's 2024 re-election campaign has taken a unique step by joining Truth Social, a right-wing social media platform created by former Republican President Donald Trump, according to The Guardian.
Using the handle @BidenHQ, the account presents itself as a "project of Biden-Harris 2024" and features a banner image bearing the phrase "the malarkey ends here," referencing President Biden's well-known colloquialism.
In a somewhat tongue-in-cheek fashion, the campaign announced on X (formerly Twitter) that it joined Truth Social "mostly because we thought it would be very funny."
We just joined Truth Social, mostly because we thought it would be very funny.

To add a humorous twist, the campaign's profile image portrays Biden as "Dark Brandon," a meme from the "Let's Go Brandon" chant used in right-wing circles as a substitute for stronger language against the president.
This move aligns with a series of quips and memes from the president's digital team. Although the new account appears light-hearted in its approach, it's evident that the Biden campaign aims to connect with conservatives. In its initial posts, the campaign shared content featuring conservatives crediting Biden or criticizing Trump.

Joe Biden Campaign Says It Plans to Fight 'Mis- and Disinformation'
Biden's campaign officials have stated that their participation in Truth Social is motivated by the intention to "meet voters where they are."
They aim to inject their message into GOP primary coverage and address any "misinformation and disinformation" related to President Joe Biden that may surface on the platform, Fox News said.
The campaign officials emphasized the lack of "truth" on Truth Social but expressed a willingness to engage with the platform for a bit of enjoyment.
They also mentioned plans to hold "MAGA accountable on their own platform" and leverage Republican voices to convey their message effectively.
The move is likened to the Biden campaign "going into the lion's den" to point out Republican hypocrisy and have some fun at their expense.
Donald Trump Campaign Reacts to Joe Biden's Move
In response, the Trump campaign has seized upon Biden's presence on Truth Social to promote the platform and criticize the president.
"Crooked Joe Biden and his team are finally acknowledging that Truth Social is hot as a pistol and the only place where real news happens," Steven Cheung, a Trump campaign spokesperson, said.
They assert that Joe Biden's attempt to spread misinformation and divert attention from his record will not succeed, per Vanity Fair.
Truth Social, owned by the Trump Media & Technology Group, has an estimated 2 million active users, significantly smaller in scale compared to social media giants like Facebook and X.
Former President Donald Trump, who owns the platform, has positioned it as an alternative to X and uses it to express his views without the risk of suspension, Newsweek noted.
Trump was permanently suspended from Twitter following the events of January 6, 2021, but his account was reinstated in November 2022 after the social media company was acquired by Elon Musk.
Trump remains a leading candidate for the GOP's 2024 presidential nomination, making him the most likely opponent for President Joe Biden in the upcoming election.
