Lionel Messi Now Owns His Own Esports Team, Kru, With Argentina Soccer Legend Kun Aguero
World Cup winner and Argentina soccer superstar Lionel Messi is dipping his toes into Esports with friend Sergio "Kun" Aguero, forming the team called Kru Esports, which focuses on online multiplayer games such as Valorant and Rocket League, which are very popular across Latin America.
The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner and current World Cup champion is now the team's latest co-owner along with Aguero, who founded Kru Esports. The Inter Miami star's investment into an Esports team is seen to bolster the popularity of the Esports world.
According to One Esports, Lionel Messi's interest in the world of Esports is not that surprising as he is very good friends with Kru founder Kun Aguero, having played together for Argentina throughout the 2010s.
He becomes the latest big name in soccer to own an Esports team along with Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham, who owns the British organization Guild Esports.
Messi's former teammate and Shakira ex, Gerard Pique, also owns his own Esports organization called KOI.
As for Kru, the Esports organization is divided into several teams competing mainly in Latin America. It has gained prominence mainly through its Latin America Valorant team, which has competed across various global Valorant LAN events and boasts an impressive track record. It also has its own Valorant roster known as KRÜ Blaze.
Kru is also represented by various popular streamers, as well as having its own competitive Rocket League team.
The esports organization has since gained global prominence, and the addition of Lionel Messi as co-owner further expands the team's global reach.

Lionel Messi Wants David Beckham To Sign Another Former FC Barcelona Teammate
It has been an FC Barcelona reunion in Inter Miami as the club not only signed Messi but also other Barca stalwarts like Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets. The team is also expected to get 2/3 of the dreaded MSN trio next year as Uruguayan legend Luis Suarez is set to reunite with Messi. MSN is made up of Messi, Suarez, and Brazilian striker Neymar, with the South American attack dominating Europe when they played together.
However, The Mirror is reporting that Messi wants even more FC Barcelona players in Miami and has asked co-owner David Beckham to sign current Sevilla and Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic. He was part of the 2015 team that won the UEFA Champions League alongside MSN.
