Steve Wozniak, Apple Co-Founder, Hospitalized in Mexico, Reason Revealed
Renowned tech innovator and Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak, or "Woz," was sent to a hospital in the Mexican capital, Mexico City. This was confirmed by the organizers of the World Business Forum, which he recently attended.
Organizers for the event told CNN that the 73-year-old tech genius was taken to the hospital at around 3:00 PM local time. He reportedly fainted before participating in the event, though the organizers did not initially reveal why he was hospitalized.
Steve Wozniak is not just a tech guru, but is also considered the genius who designed the Apple I and Apple II computers. he revolutionized personal computing and established Apple as a market leader after founding the company with the late Steve Jobs.
While Steve Jobs was the face of the company and its visionary, "Woz" was the technical engineer who innovated on Apple's technologies. They started the company together in Steve Jobs's garage in California in 1976, and it is now one of the biggest and most valuable companies.
Reason for Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak Getting Hospitalized in Mexico Revealed
Following hospitalization in Mexico City, Steve Wozniak underwent an MRI. Doctors then found that the Silicon Valley tech guru had a minor stroke while attending the World Business Forum event where he was one of the guests.
Wozniak reportedly felt dizzy on Wednesday morning, before he was scheduled to speak at the event on the afternoon. Reports indicated that he was feeling vertigo and had difficulty walking and this prompted him being sent to the hospital.
Fox Business has contacted the Apple co-founder's representatives but not much is known about his current condition yet. However, it was confirmed that Steve Wozniak was taken to the ABC Santa Fe Hospital in Mexico City. The hospital is near where the World Business Forum is being held.
For now, it has been confirmed that the Silicon Valley tech genius has been released from the hospital and will be flying back home to the US soon.
Steve Wozniak Teamed Up With Other Tech Personalities To Warn About the Dangers of Artificial Intelligence
Before his trip to Mexico, Steve Wozniak joined together with Tesla CEO Elon Musk to warn about the dangers of artificial intelligence and called for a pause in the development of the most powerful AI models, according to the BBC. He and the SpaceX CEO co-signed the letter that called for the pause in development.
"Woz" has been very vocal in his opposition to this recent trend in AI, claiming that these more powerful ones can make scams even harder to spot.
"AI is so intelligent it's open to the bad players, the ones that want to trick you about who they are," he told BBC.
He also said he is skeptical about getting AI regulated, adding, "I think the forces that drive for money usually win out, which is sort of sad."
