Taylor Swift Traumatized Over Brazil Concert; Thanksgiving Plans in Jeopardy
Taylor Swift's Brazil saga is not yet over after a fan died during her first Eras Tour performance in the country. Reports indicate that she may miss Thanksgiving because of this, as she has no plans for the holiday currently. She has also been traumatized by the death of her fan, identified as 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides.
Benevides reportedly fainted during her concert and had been complaining about not feeling well before. She was treated by first responders at the scene but was soon rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later passed away. Her death caused a big stir all over Brazil, with many questioning why the Eras Tour organizers prevented fans from bringing water inside the venue despite the sweltering heat that Brazil was suffering at that time.
The heat index had reached a record-breaking 139 degrees Fahrenheit during the concert, which happened on Friday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Swift's holiday plans are now in chaos after the incident, with a source telling Page Six, "She doesn't know her holiday plans yet," and adding, "The Brazil concerts ... She is devastated about a fan dying. The weather is extreme. It's a mess she didn't expect. It's been a traumatic experience. It's been a lot. She is going to decide today."
Previously, a source told the outlet that she planned to go back to the US for Thanksgiving, but since the death of her fan, those plans are now in limbo. Rumors are saying that she was planning to spend the holiday with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, but the source stated that she will decide after her performance on Monday.
Traveling "could end up being too much," or she "could want to come home" to be around people during this difficult time, the source added.
Taylor Swift Not Being Blamed for Fan's Death as Video Showed She Told Her Crew To Give Fans Water
In Brazil, families and friends of Benevides, as well as the public in general, are throwing their outrage at the organizers as they reportedly did not allow any water to be brought inside the venue during the concert.
According to Business Insider, videos showed Taylor Swift pausing her performance and directing her own crew to hand out water to concertgoers in the sweltering heat and even calling out organizers for not allowing water to be brought.
"There's people that need water right here, maybe 30, 35, 40 feet back, she said while on stage. "So whoever is in charge of giving them that, just make sure that happens. Can I get a signal that you know where they are?"
Another video also showed the singer throwing a bottle of water to the crowd as some fans were chanting "Water! Water! Water!" in the stifling Brazilian heat.
Travis Kelce Was a Big Support for Taylor Swift During Brazil Fan's Death
While Tay-Tay has been traumatized, another source has stated that Travis Kelce is supporting her in this difficult period as she deals with the death of a fan.
"She is so grateful she's had Travis. He's been a huge support system for her right now," the source told US Weekly. "Her family has been there, but it's different to have a boyfriend to lean on."
