A suspect is now in custody in connection to a rural Colorado shooting that resulted in three deaths and one person wounded, believed to stem from a suspected property dispute, according to PEOPLE.

Hanme K. Clark, a 45-year-old resident of Westcliffe, Colorado, was apprehended by New Mexico State Police and US Marshals near Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Tuesday, as reported by the Custer County Sheriff's Office.

During a press conference, Custer County Sheriff Rich Smith stated that a woman believed to be the suspect's girlfriend was found in the vehicle at the time of the arrest, and investigators are currently working to determine her involvement in the incident.

The arrest followed a 25-hour manhunt that commenced on Monday, during which Clark surrendered peacefully. The suspect's father contacted the sheriff's office and offered assistance in locating Clark.

Sheriff Smith confirmed that the Colorado shooting suspect was found on Tuesday in the same white Ram 1500 pickup truck as the one identified on the previous day.

The Colorado Shooting

The Colorado shooting occurred around 1 PM on Monday when the assailant opened fire on five individuals in a wooded area, revealed Sheriff Rich Smith at a news conference on Monday night, per CNN.

The attack resulted in the deaths of two men and a woman, while another woman sustained gunshot wounds to the chest but is expected to survive. A fifth person managed to escape the attack.

According to Sheriff Smith, the suspect and at least one of the victims had been involved in previous civil disputes related to property lines and easements, although specific details were not provided.

The Custer County coroner identified the three victims on Tuesday as Rob Geers, 63 and his wife, Beth Wade Geers ,73, along with James Daulton, 58.

Patty Daulton, the wife of James Daulton, was injured in the incident and is receiving treatment at a trauma center.

In a subsequent news conference on Tuesday, Sheriff Smith mentioned that Patty Daulton's condition is improving.

The Daultons and the Geers were property owners, and their properties bordered that of the suspect.

Following the arrest of the Colorado shooting suspect, Sheriff Smith expressed hope it would bring relief to the neighborhood and community and, more importantly, closure to the families and friends of the victims.

Hanme K. Clark, the Colorado shooting suspect, appears to have a background as an accomplished mixed martial arts fighter in Colorado, CBS News noted.

A post from Pancrase MMA in Denver identifies one of their fighters as Hanme Clark, known by the nickname "The Ruiner."

Clark is listed as 6'3" and 185 pounds, holding a purple belt in Pancrase Mixed Martial Arts, a black belt in Taekwondo, and experience in Kendo, a Japanese sword-fighting style, the post said, adding that he has also earned several titles through Pancrase.

Pancrase MMA's website features a news item titled "Former Pancrase Student and Colorado MMA Fighter Wanted for Shooting 4," linking to a Daily Mail story about Clark being sought by the police.

Meanwhile, court records indicate that a man with the same name as Clark is a plaintiff in a property dispute in Custer County civil court. This case dates to 2020 and remains open.
