Morrison took to X, previously known as Twitter, to share his unusual pitch, stating, "This is not the sort of thing I commonly do, this pitch. But this year is different. And tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. Do what you can; he would have been grateful."

In addition to Morrison's plea, Perry's family has spoken out about the legacy they aim to honor in the wake of the actor's passing.

While some may have been unaware of the familial connection between Matthew Perry and Keith Morrison, the Dateline correspondent openly discussed his stepson during an interview on Watch What Happens Live in 2017.

Host Andy Cohen queried Morrison about his favorite aspect of being Perry's stepfather, to which Morrison replied, "Where should I start? I mean, there are dozens of them. He's really a very good guy."

Morrison and Perry's mother married in 1981 when the late actor was 12 years old, a decade after her separation from Perry's father, John Bennett Perry, Parade noted.

Matthew Perry was tragically found unresponsive in a hot tub at his California home on October 28, Mirror reports.

His death certificate, released earlier this month, lists the cause of death as "pending investigation" as the medical examiner's office awaits toxicology and lab results.

Perry had been candid about his battles with addiction throughout his life.

Following Perry's tragic passing, the family issued a statement expressing heartbreak: "We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him, and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love."
