Jonathan Majors, best known for his role as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is facing trial for assault charges from his ex-girlfriend after an alleged fight they had in New York, which led to the actor being arrested before shortly being let go by the NYPD.

The trial for the actor began on Wednesday with jury selection, with six jurors being chosen, three of them men and three of them women. There will also be two alternatives.

As for opening statements, both sides are scheduled to deliver them on Monday. The entire trial itself is expected to last for two weeks before the jury begins their deliberations, according to Variety. The trial finally began after being delayed for multiple times.

Jonathan Majors was present during the jury selection process, with the "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" and "Creed III" actor appearing while wearing a dark grey, double-breasted suit and fedora while walking and holding hands with his girlfriend, Meagan Good.

As Latin Post previously reported, the actor was previously arrested back in March after an alleged domestic dispute with his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, who accused him of attacking her after an argument. Majors has since pleaded not guilty to the four charges of assault and aggravated harassment. He was also charged with strangulation but that charge was later dropped.

If found guilty by the jury and convicted, the Marvel actor could face up to a year in prison.

Marvel Actor Jonathan Majors Claims It Was Grace Jabbari Who Attacked Him

The incident reportedly happened during a car ride in Manhattan when Grace Jabbari, then Majors's girlfriend, confronted him about a text. Prosecutors alleged that Jabbari had grabbed a phone out of Majors's hand after seeing an alleged text from another woman that said, "Wish I was kissing you right now." This led to Majors trying to get his phone back and the fight ensuing.

Jabbari claimed that Majors "pulled her finger, twisted her arm behind her back and hit her face." When the car stopped, the then-couple got out of the car and Jabbari claimed that Majors threw her back into the vehicle. She was later treated at a nearby hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

However, the Marvel actor maintained that it was her that attacked him, not the other way around, claiming that Jabbari "scratched and hit" him. His attorneys also alleged that police who responded to the scene did not interview their client and that prosecutors refused to review evidence that showed that Majors was the victim.

'Sopranos' Star Almost Became a Juror at the Jonathan Majors Trial

As for the people who were selected to serve jury duty, one of them is a fellow actor, Yul Vazquez, best known for appearing on TV shows like "Sopranos" and "Severance."

However, according to Yahoo! News, Vazquez "raised concerns about the prospect of casting judgment against another person" and was eliminated from the jury pool. He was not included in the final six jurors agreed upon by both sides.
