A recent national public opinion survey conducted by Monmouth University reveals that President Joe Biden approval rating has hit an all-time low of 34%, with 61% of Americans expressing dissatisfaction with his performance in the White House, according to FOX News.

This significant decline in approval marks a turning point for Joe Biden, who has been in office for nearly three years.

The survey highlighted disapproval of the president's handling of immigration (26%) and inflation (28%).

Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute, emphasized that despite positive economic indicators and infrastructure investments, many Americans are grappling with the impact of post-pandemic inflation on their daily lives.

"The Biden administration keeps touting their infrastructure investments and a host of positive economic indicators. Those data points may be factual, but most Americans are still smarting from higher prices caused by post-pandemic inflation. This seems to be what's driving public opinion," Murray said.

"There is political danger in pushing a message that basically tells people their take on their own situation is wrong," Murray added, cautioning against downplaying public sentiment.

He also noted that even among Biden's Democratic base, there's a desire for the president to address their top priorities more attentively.

Financial Struggles and Concerns About Attention to Issues Pull Joe Biden Approval Rating Down

The survey delves into the financial struggles of Americans, revealing that 44% are currently struggling financially, while only 12% see an improvement in their financial situation, Monmouth University reports.

These numbers sharply contrast with the pre-pandemic period, where financial struggles ranged from 20% to 29%, and improvements were reported by 20% to 25% of respondents.

Additionally, only 31% of Americans believe President Joe Biden is giving enough attention to the issues that matter most to their families, with a majority (65%) expressing a desire for more attention to those concerns.

Partisan differences are evident, with 58% of Democrats feeling Biden is paying the right amount of attention, while a sizable minority (41%) wishes for more focus.

Partisan bias influences how individuals perceive their financial status, linked to the White House occupant, Murray noted, adding that even within Joe Biden's Democratic base, many desire greater attention to their key concerns.

Despite negative perceptions of current financial situations, 58% of Americans remain optimistic about their family's financial status in the next 12 months.

Democrats are significantly more optimistic (80%) compared to Republicans (37%), with independents falling in between (53%).

Joe Biden's Response Amidst Poll Criticism

President Joe Biden, responding to questions about his slipping poll numbers, dismissed the concerns, stating, "You're reading the wrong polls."

This remark came as he left his campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, where a car crashed into a parked US Secret Service SUV, though neither the president nor First Lady Jill Biden were harmed, per POLITICO.

President Joe Biden referred to unspecified polls in a recent statement, but last month, his campaign distributed a memo to media outlets citing polling data from NPR/PBS/Marist, Yahoo News/YouGov, USA/Suffolk, and Quinnipiac University, among others, showing Biden leading or tied with former president Donald Trump.

During a Chicago fundraiser on November 9, Biden informed donors that while the media focused on two polls, there were 10 others indicating their lead.

He claimed to have placed copies of these polls on attendees' seats.

On the same day, Biden told reporters at Maryland's Joint Base Andrews that they "don't read the polls" and emphasized winning in eight out of ten polls in various states.

Notably, polls from CNN and the New York Times released around the same time suggested Biden was trailing Trump and other Republican contenders nationally by four and five points, respectively.
