Dominik Mysterio: From Rey Mysterio's Son To One of the Biggest Wrestling Bad Guys in the World
Wrestling fans may have first gotten to know Dominik Mysterio as Rey Mysterio's son during his father's feud with Eddie Guerrero during the WWE's Ruthless Aggression era, but he is all grown up now and one of wrestling's most dastardly baddies, also known as heels.
His father is known as one of the greatest baby faces, also known as good guys, in all of wrestling, being dubbed by the WWE as the "Ultimate Underdog" for being a small man finding success in what fans dubbed "the land of the giants" as WWE tends to promote big muscular men over more athletic and high-flying wrestlers like Rey Mysterio. However, while he initially tried going down his father's path, Dominik Mysterio found he was much better off as a heel, and critics found him to be very good at it.
While old-school wrestling fans remember him as the little boy that Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero were feuding over, that image of him is long gone and replaced by a sniveling and conniving heel that would hide behind his "Mami," Rhea Ripley, should trouble occur.
So how did Dominik Mysterio cast off his father's goody-goody image to become one of the most hated heels in the business? In his own words, during an interview with Inside the Ropes, "Ex-Con Dom" stated, "I think it's kind of just always secretly been hidden in me, that I'm kind of just this dick."
."Which, like with all things, it just came naturally to me, man. I don't know what it was, but I think what really helped me was I guess when I was training with Lance and with Jay Lethal, I guess everyone thought I was just gonna be a babyface like my dad and just be a good guy all the time," he explained. , "So when I would do practice matches, I would want to be a heel. I wanted to be the bad guy. So I trained, most of the time, my practice matches, I was always the bad guy. So it was always fun to kind of get into that character. Once I got the opportunity, I was like, I'm not gonna blow it."
"I've always wanted to be the bad guy. Guys like Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, guys like that I grew up watching, that's how I wanted to do it," he added.

Wrestling Legends Acknowledge Dominik Mysterio's Talent in Making People Hate Him
The heat that WWE fans have for Dominik Mysterio has been nuclear, and everywhere he goes, he gets booed loudly. The boos even drown out what he says when he does promos in the microphone. However, as a wrestling heel, this is considered a good thing and other wrestling legends acknowledge how good the son of Rey Mysterio is in that role.
From Mexican wrestling legends like Konan to WWE Hall of Famers like Road Dogg, they all agree that Dominik Mysterio is a great heel. "Dom probably has the most heat in professional wrestling right now, and it was all because of this story they did with Rey [Mysterio]. He's a huge star right now, I don't know what else to tell you," praised Road Dogg during his podcast.
Meanwhile, Konan, who has had a history with Dominik's father, Rey, admitted that the boos that the younger Mysterio has been receiving were all real and not piped in, as many believe.
Dominik Mysterio Has Long-Term Contract Locked In With WWE
"Dirty Dom" has become so good at being the bad guy that WWE wants him to continue what he is doing. In fact, SE Scoops has reported that the Judgement Day member signed a new WWE contract, with him reportedly staying with the wrestling giant for five years.
He has come a long way, from the boy that Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero were fighting over to becoming one of the biggest bad guys in wrestling today. As a heel, many believe he has finally escaped the long shadow his father has cast over much of his career, and it looks like he is committed to performing for WWE in the long run.
