During a hearing about the challenge against Florida's transgender healthcare ban on minors, a federal judge found that Republican Governor Ron DeSantis repeatedly spread false information about doctors mutilating children's genitals. The court found that there had never been any documented cases regarding this.

According to the Associated Press, DeSantis and his allies sold the law to Florida voters as "defending children from mutilation." However, Judge Robert Hinkle found that it was more about preventing trans children from getting health care than what the state of Florida was claiming it was for.

"When I'm analyzing the governor's motivation, what should I make of these statements?" the judge asked Florida state lawyer Mohammad Jazil about the matter. "This seems to be more than just hyperbole."

As a result of the court's finding, Judge Hinkle noted that he would make a ruling sometime in the new year regarding DeSantis's anti-transgender legislature if the Florida state legislature, the Florida Department of Health, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis himself had deliberately targeted transgender people through the new law.

The judge also admitted that he is skeptical of the state's motivation regarding the passage of this anti-trans law as the lawyers for both sides gave their respective closing arguments.

The Florida law, which also places restrictions on adult trans care, is being challenged by families of trans children as the state is banning them from seeking medical treatment such as hormone therapy and puberty blockers. The law, which is part of DeSantis's culture war agenda as he runs for president, has been widely criticized by human rights groups around the world.

Judge Hinkle has now blocked the enforcement of the law temporarily as it pertains to minors. The outcome of the trial will decide whether or not the law will move forward.

"Following mismanagement and conduct issues, including numerous unauthorized leaks containing false information, senior officials were terminated," claimed Wagner in an interview. "We don't have time to indulge false narratives from those with ulterior motives."
