It may be safe to say that Mateo Messi, son of Argentina soccer legend Lionel Messi, is a chip off the old block and that the apple did not fall far from the tree. The younger Messi scored a hat trick while playing for the junior division of his father's team, Inter Miami.

Mateo Messi is currently enrolled at the Inter Miami academy, with the eight-year-old showing that he definitely has his father's genes by scoring three goals, or a hat trick, for the junior club. The youngster also showed that he has his father's phenomenal dribbling skills, according to Marca.

The video of him being particularly similar to his superstar father in that match has gone viral, not just in the US and Latin America, but the entire world as Mateo Messi is showing sparks of his father's greatness at such a young age.

The youngster was shown surging past his opponents with phenomenal dribbling skills which he may have learned from the man that many consider the greatest to have ever played the game. It was noted that scoring goals comes naturally for the youngster, who has already scored ten goals for the Inter Miami academy's junior team. He has also showcased some eye-catching moves, though unlike his father, he strikes the ball using his right foot, not the left.

Despite only being eight, the young Messi has now earned a lot of fans and it looks like he might just follow in his iconic father's footsteps as a young up-and-coming prospect for scouts in the US, Latin America, and Europe.

Meanwhile, the Messi family seems to have finally settled in in their new Florida home as Lionel Messi continues playing for Inter Miami. Images of his new home have now been released and it looks like his wife, Antonella, and their three sons, including Mateo, are living in luxury.

According to The Daily Mail, the Argentina superstar forward's new Miami home boasts 10 bedrooms, two boat docks, a spa, and a waterside swimming pool. It is estimated to be worth $10.75 million and is around 10,500 square feet.

Found within the gated community at Bay Colony, it is just a 15-minute drive from Inter Miami's DRV PNK Stadium and training base. His teammate, Sergio Busquets is not far away from him either, as the Spaniard lives inside a $9 million waterfront home in Sea Ranch Lakes.

Inter Miami Slated To Face Lionel Messi's Childhood Team, Newell's Old Boys

As for Lionel Messi's activities with Inter Miami, he is scheduled to play against his childhood club Newell's Old Boys in a preseason friendly match. The game is slated for February 15 at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Messi got his start as an undersized junior player with the club as a child, much like his son, Mateo is doing with the Inter Miami Academy. However, the club would not pay for the treatment of his condition which slowed down his growth, so the Messi family took his talents to Barcelona, which paid for the treatment which soon made Messi into the soccer great that he is today.

"I am delighted to welcome my beloved Newell's to our home here in Miami. It will be a special match due to everything Newell's Old Boys means to me," said Inter Miami Coach Tata Martino, sho used to play with the Argentinian club. "It will also be a good opportunity to prepare for what will surely be an exciting season."
