Donald Trump recently mocked late senator and war hero John McCain for shooting down his attempt to repeal universal healthcare, and his daughter, former "The View" host and conservative commentator Meghan McCain, is pushing back.

Not long after the embattled former president mocked her father in a speech during a campaign event in Iowa, Meghan McCain took to X (formerly Twitter), and she did not hold back, calling Donald Trump a "piece of sh**."

"My dad was an American hero. An icon. A patriot that will be remembered throughout history. I cannot buy a bagel without someone approaching me about how much they loved and miss him," she wrote on X. "Trump is a piece of shit, election-denying, huckster whose own wife won't campaign with him."

As the Huffington Post noted, John McCain had been a thorn in Trump's side ever since he campaigned for the presidency, and Trump had been more than happy to make fun of McCain being a political prisoner during the Vietnam War, as well as the injuries he sustained while being tortured by the North Vietnamese.

Trump has since been triggered whenever John McCain is mentioned, so much so that a warship named USS John McCain was forced to go out to sea when Trump visited a US naval base in Japan because he wanted it "out of sight" when he visited.

What Did Donald Trump Say About Late Senator John McCain in Iowa?

During his campaign stop in Iowa, Trump talked about the now-failed July 2017 ObamaCare repeal bill that he and his loyalist senators were pushing. In his final act of defiance in his career as a politician, McCain famously voted with a thumbs down.

"Obamacare is a catastrophe, nobody talks about it. You know, without John McCain, we would have had it done," he told the Iowa crowd. "But John McCain, for some reason, couldn't get his arm up that day, remember?"

This was a reference to McCain not being able to lift his arms up after repeated torture in Vietnam, making him one of the biggest advocates against torture in the US while he was still alive.

The effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act, also known as ObamaCare, did not pass the Senate with a final vote of 49-51, with the deciding vote being John McCain. Three Republicans joined every single Democrat to vote against the repeal, including Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.

Donald Trump Trying to Throw Out Georgia Election Case Again

Meanwhile, the leading Republican candidate is facing several criminal cases, including one in Georgia where he is accused of trying to interfere with the state's election. Now, Trump is trying to have the case thrown out again as he argued that he is protected from prosecution under presidential immunity.

"The indictment in this case charges President Trump for acts that lie at the heart of his official responsibilities as president. The indictment is barred by presidential immunity and should be dismissed with prejudice," the motion in Georgia read.

However, critics have often challenged this argument, saying that Trump and his followers were not acting on behalf of Donald Trump, President of the United States, but on behalf of Donald Trump, presidential candidate, and if he is acting as a candidate, he is not immune from prosecution.
