The Gilgo Beach Serial Killer case has gotten a new update as the suspected killer, Rex Heuermann, has now been charged with the murder of a fourth victim.

Suffolk County prosecutors have filed new charges against the suspected serial killer for the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, who was 25 when she first disappeared before having her body found buried along with many others in Gilgo Beach.

Brainard-Barnes' remains were found in 2010. Investigations reveal that she had been restrained with a belt bearing the initials HM or WH. The US Sun reported that investigators believe that these initials have ties with Rex Heuermann.

Initially, Heuermann was only charged with the murders of three of the eleven victims found in Gilgo Beach. He is the primary person of interest for the fourth victim, Maureen Brainard-Barnes. Investigators now believe that they have enough evidence to tie the disgraced former architect to her disappearance and death.

Brainard-Barnes, a mother of two, disappeared back in 2007 before her remains were discovered in 2010. She is one of the Gilgo Beach Four whose remains were found near each other in Gilgo Beach, Long Island. She is believed to be the first of the Gilgo Beach Four to be killed.

DNA Evidence Tied 4th Victim to Suspected Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Rex Heuermann

Detectives used DNA extracted from hair at the scene where the bodies were uncovered to tie the disgraced former architect to the murder of the fourth victim.

According to the Associated Press, one of the hairs found on Brainard-Barnes' remains is genetically similar to a DNA sample taken from Heuermann's ex-wife, Asa Ellerup. On the night Brainard-Barnes disappeared, Ellerup and their daughter were out of town and staying at a hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

In a new court filing, prosecutors also noted that Heuermann feared getting caught in the months leading up to his arrest. He reportedly obtained data-wiping software to try and destroy evidence on his laptops, phones, and other electronic devices.

Rex Heuermann Google Searches Revealed, Included 'Medieval Torture' and 'Autopsy Photos'

With the new filing from prosecutors also come new reports on the suspected Gilgo Beach Serial Killer's activities online, as it was found that he was looking up deviant sex acts and autopsy photos.

According to The New York Post, Rex Heuermann used the handle name "sandbagger303" for his Gmail account and another email address. He used it to surf the internet and search for pornography. Among his searches include "Tied up fat girl porn," "Skinny white teen crying porn," "medieval torture of women," and "skinny black slave girl."

He also searched for "autopsy photos of female," "how I was raped audio," "stories of rape audio," "crying blow job porn," and "fat teen c*m on face porn."
