Joe Biden got a massive boost for his presidential campaign as he received the endorsement from the United Auto Workers Union (UAW), which also slammed Donald Trump for being somebody who "stands against everything we stand for."

UAW President Shawn Fain is also personally endorsing Biden, along with his organization. In his fiery speech in front of members of the US's premiere auto workers union, he cited Biden's pro-union record and his decision to become the first president to join a union picket line last summer.

"Instead of talking trash about our union, Joe Biden stood with us," said the union leader. Reuters noted that Fain's endorsement, as well as the group's, could be a very big boost to the president's re-election bid in a battleground state such as Michigan, as well as other states with big manufacturing industries.

Fail then turned his attention to Donald Trump, who has been known for his strong anti-union stance. He cited the former president's failure to persuade General Motors to keep an assembly plant open in Ohio, as well as his political stunt last year where he appeared at a non-union hall as the UAW strike was happening.

"Donald Trump stands against everything we stand for as a society," Fain added, before introducing President Biden to the loud cheers and applause from hundreds of UAW members. The president then addressed the people present, telling them, "I was so damn proud to stand in that picket line with you."

Despite their past differences, Biden also praised Fain for his "extraordinary leadership" during the UAW's historic strikes and called him a "leader with a backbone, a backbone like a ramrod."

United Auto Workers Union Members Say Joe Biden Was There for Them When They Needed Him

As to how Biden got the UAW endorsement, the Associated Press interviewed several union members after the Biden speech and many of them sang praises for the president.

Caroline Loveless from Waterloo, Iowa was one of them and said that Biden was there for autoworkers during their strike and even joined them at the picket lines. Meanwhile, Leo Carillo from Kansas City, Missouri stated. "For me it meant a lot" that a sitting president would show that level of solidarity to autoworkers.

William Louis of Groton, Connecticut was one of the auto workers who spoke with the AP and he said that while he is "fed up with politicians" he will reluctantly vote for Biden, as the current Republican frontrunner, Donald Trump, "was a terrible president."

Joe Biden Touts Pro-Union History in United Auto Workers Union Endorsement

Unlike Donald Trump, Joe Biden has been very vocal in his support of unions and has touted his policies that are pro-union, with Politico noting that the president has "largely delivered on his vow to be the most labor-friendly president in decades."

Despite this, several big unions such as the ones for truck drivers, firefighters, postal workers, and others, have not yet publicly endorsed the president, but his allies are confident the president's pro-union bona fides will mean strong support for him as they head to November.
