Mexico: AeroMexico Passenger Arrested After Walking on Parked Plane's Wing to Save People Inside
The Mexico City International Airport acknowledged a startling incident on Friday, revealing that a man opened an emergency exit and walked onto the wing of a parked AeroMexico plane that was awaiting takeoff on Thursday, AP reports.
The airport confirmed the individual had been handed over to the police, but the aftermath saw fellow passengers expressing dissatisfaction over a four-hour delay without proper ventilation or water.
AeroMexico Passenger's Dissent and Unconventional Heroism
The incident unfolded around 11:30 last Thursday, approximately three hours after the scheduled departure time of the AeroMexico flight bound for Guatemala, according to BBC.
A maintenance issue was cited as the cause of the delay, prompting the need for a plane change.
It remains unclear if the unidentified AeroMexico passenger responsible for the unconventional move is still in custody or faces any charges.
In response to the delay, irate passengers painted a different narrative.
A handwritten note, signed by at least 77 individuals on the flight, circulated on social media, asserting that the man's actions were undertaken "to protect everyone, with the support of everyone."
According to the note, the delay and lack of air created perilous conditions, and the man's intervention was viewed as saving lives.
"He saved our lives," the note emphasized, signifying a collective sentiment among those who experienced the ordeal.
Names and signatures accompanied the powerful statement, underscoring the unity among passengers during the unexpected incident.

Mexico Airport and Incident Report Confirmation
The Mexico airport addressed the incident in a statement, asserting that the passenger opened the emergency door while the plane was stationary at a remote position, stood on the wing, and then re-entered the cabin.
The individual, in adherence to international security regulations, willingly surrendered to the authorities, ABC noted.
An incident report filed with airport authorities aligned with the AeroMexico passenger's perspective.
It detailed that at 11:37 am, a disturbance ensued due to discontent among passengers on flight AM672.
Originally scheduled for an 8:45 am departure, the plane had to return to the gate for mandatory maintenance, sparking dissatisfaction among travelers.
Subsequently, one passenger opened the emergency door and stepped onto the wing, necessitating a plane change.
"The passengers were unhappy, and one of them opened the emergency door and stepped out on the wing," the report said.
The identity of the involved passenger remains undisclosed, and airport authorities refrained from commenting on custody or potential charges.
Flight tracking sites verified a delay of four hours and 56 minutes for AeroMexico's flight AM672 to Guatemala City on Thursday.
A video circulated online, purportedly recorded during the delay, depicted passengers seeking relief from the heat and requesting water from a flight attendant.
As of now, AeroMexico has not responded to inquiries seeking comments on the unusual incident.
